Calhoun House
Study Room

Luke was too focus on this girl shivering in his arms that he forgot to close the door behind them.

"Kelsea, are you okay? I'm sure Clair didn't mean that." He asked as he assisted her to take a seat by the couch close to the fireplace. He quickly left to grab a towel from the powder room located inside the study and hand it to her. She accepted it though when she unroll it, she realized it was just the size of a hand towel.

"They're clean. I grab those from the linen closet. That's the best I could get you for now, my jacket and.. me, of course." He smiled as he watched her used the hand towel he just handed to start drying her hair.

"Clair clearly intended it?! I look like a wet dog right now, a very cold one! But thank you. I just can't believe what got into her." Kelsea replied still feeling upset about the incident as she quickly rub the towel all over her hair. Then she swiftly rub her face ignoring the fact that she has some makeup on transferring to the towel.

"I'm sorry if you feel that way, pretty face. Are you feeling better now? Do you need anything else?" He asked looking concerned as he sat next to her.

"That moment I was underwater, I felt like I'm about to die, all because of some crazy b.." Kelsea hold herself from cursing someone she doesn't know in front of that someone she barely knew and on top of that, they belong to the same circle or whatever relationship the two of them have. What a crazy bunch did she got herself into.

"If it makes you feel better, I'll talk to her about it. I don't want anything bad to happen to you. I can't lose you. I care about you.. I like you, Kels." He whispered softly as he closed the gap in between them, scooping her face with his palm and looking straight into her eyes. He slowly moved to kiss her when she pushed him back, hard.

"No! What the heck are you saying? What are you doing?" She screamed, all confused and scared as she noticed the door to the study was left open with a gap and hoped someone nearby could hear her.

"Kissing my girl." He smiled as he grabbed her tighter pulling towards him, wrapping his strong arms around her waist and placing his other hand behind her neck to meet his lips.

"Stop! No, I'm not your girl, Luke! Let me go!" Kelsea screamed as she used every remaining strength she got to pushed him a few inches away. A strong man's arm pulled him hard away from her and he almost fell into the floor before regaining back his composure.

"What the..." Luke's voice trailed off to his surprise it was his cousin, Briggs, who's face is obviously not pleased at what he just witnessed.

"You heard her. She said no. You either accept that and leave or my fist can do the talking for you." Briggs tried to calmly remarked against his growing anger as he was able to hold his clenched fist tight by his side.

Deep inside, he was just relieved to hear that she's not with him, the way his cousin tried to make it look. He quickly removed the jacket still wrapped around her and hand it back to his cousin. Luke turned his back away and just left without saying a word to them as his jacket fell flat on the floor.

"I hope you're okay now, but this isn't a good place for you to stay any longer. Where's your stuff at? Let's hurry up and leave." Briggs grabbed her gently by the wrist, pushed the door of the study open and swiftly headed to the busy kitchen.

"Briggs, where are you taking me? I can't just leave." Kelsea murmured softly back at him as she tried to avoid some of the other catering staffs curious gaze as she grabbed her bag from one of the closets.

"Hurry, just come with me." As his grasped remained tight and steady on her wrist and he guided her back to the study and into another door at the end that connects to a large garage. There was a convertible car, an SUV and a golf cart. His blue pickup truck was nowhere in sight.
