Briggs spent the rest of the coming days buried in work, filling up his calendar by hanging out with his friends and even attends social events organized by his mom. Which delighted his mother as she can parade him again to all of her friends and potentially pair him to one of the daughters of these elite families. For him, it was an excuse not to think about Kelsea and to meet new people— especially the pretty ones. Why not? He is still single and they couldn't resist to approach a bachelor like him. But when he is by himself, his thoughts would drift back to her and wondering what's keeping her busy these days.

How's her studies going? Did she finally quit her job? Does she ever think of him? Is she dating someone else? The latter gives him the same intense emotion as when he saw her alone with his cousin when they were at the yacht party. He tried to make himself so preoccupied with work and other women. He found those two a perfect distraction to not send her a single message or a quick call since he didn't hear anything from her either.

She got what she needed and I didn't. He thought to himself recalling her face full of relief when he handed her back the job application documents that he made a copy of. But it scares him to get what he wants from her because he knew once that happens, there's no turning back. He barely knew her and has only been with her a couple of times. But it feels like his entire life was changed the minute she walks in their office parking lot.

"Why you look so down, handsome? Cheer up, it's hump day! Got any plans?" Alicia curiously inquired while trying her best to flirt hard with him. She moved closer to his desk wearing a white polka dot sheer top and black midi pencil skirt with a short slit that hug her backside and accentuate her curvesZ

"Work." He remarked without even looking back at her.

"That's not the look of someone caught up with work. I've seen that face before. That's the face of a guy who's love sick. Tell me, who is she?" Alicia tease then chuckled softly moving closer to him as she pretend to arrange the files on his desk and hoping he would even glance back.

"Love sick huh? I got a good thing to cure that. Join me in one of my project proposal presentations to the Robin Group Holdings. You'll be my lead project engineer." Their project manager cut in their conversation eyeing Alicia who quickly moved further away from Briggs and slowly left the room, flipping her hair as she left.

"My god, she's something. Makes me want to be single again." The project manager chuckled as he gazed back at her leaving the room before sitting down to brief Briggs about their upcoming project.

Robin Group Holdings. Why does that sound familiar? Is all Briggs could wonder as he focus back on discussing with his senior.

"Kels, I've accepted your resignation. I know it's for the best, you got our full support. Good luck in your upcoming architect's state test, not that you need it. I'm confident you'll pass." Jordan, her boss, smiled.

"Thank you, Jordan. I'll do my best to do a proper handover. The HR mentioned your new assistant will report in the next coming days. If you want, I can help train her during this transition." She replied cheerfully.

"Good. I like the sound of that. Well, as much as I don't want to get you on board any new projects and just focus on your current ones. I need you to assist me in this new commercial strip project with for our structural consultants bidding. We'll just run a short project briefing to them, Janet have already sent them a copy by email." Her boss added.

"You can count me in. I'll do my best. I've just need to do another quick review of the project summary." She responded back.

"There'll be here this afternoon, so you got plenty of time for that. We have to do some site inspections now. Unless you can read that and do the punch-list at the same time." Jordan sarcastically remarked as he grabbed his construction PPE— a hard hat and safety vest.
