Why does it feel like I haven't updated in a million years? Time is going by so fast but slow all at the same time! Anyway, happy Thursday, hope you enjoy chapter 6!
~Bucky~
"Did you hear?" Ricky asked, an amused smile on his face.
I narrowed my eyes in confusion as Hawg and Mack were beginning to march inside the chapel for a quick club meeting. It wasn't a formal church because both Cash and Mick weren't here, but in their absence, Bear was in charge and running the lockdown.
"Hear what?" I questioned, just as Bear and the prospect entered the room and shut the door behind them.
Bear didn't take a seat at the head of the table and instead stood at the front of the room. The prospect stood off to the side—probably figuring that just because he was allowed into a meeting for the first time, it didn't mean he was allowed to sit.
He hadn't earned his patch yet, and he knew the boundaries he needed to maintain to make sure that one day he would.
"Carter's gonna be working at Hell's Ink now," Ricky informed with a chuckle.
I couldn't help the way my face must have fallen to my ass because—what the actual fuck?
Just as I was about to ask for some clarification to make sure I heard that right, Bear began speaking, which quieted us all down very quickly. Bear wasn't our leader, but he was one of the founding members of the Hell's Tribe, and he deserved every ounce of respect we gave him. He could have very well established another charter when the Tribe was growing and become a president in his own right—instead, he and Trudy remained in Tooele and he remained content as Mick's Sargent at Arms. In situations like this, it was clear why Mick and Cash trusted him so much—he knew how to command a room.
"Listen up!" Bear called. "Mick and Cash are gonna be gone for a few days, so, for now, that leaves me in charge. Mick thinks he's got a lead on Donnie in El Paso, so until they get back we need to keep everyone contained. I know all the ladies and kids hate lockdown, but it's up to us to make sure they all stay safe and in the building at all times. Ronnie and the girls are here with us too, so we got a lot of littles running around here. We've got no reason to think anyone is in immediate danger, but keep your eyes open and make sure everyone is doing what they are supposed too."
We all nodded our heads in agreement because it was pretty much business as usual, minus the fact that neither our president or vice president was here with us. Usually, the two of them wouldn't travel alone together for safety purposes, but it was especially unusual that Knox—a charter president himself, was with them too. It was a lot of heat what they were doing, and pretty risky too, but I guess they were all really desperate to track down the asshole who was threatening Nora, and I didn't blame them.
"Questions?" Bear asked the room.
Ricky nodded his head. "Any confirmation that Donnie is the one behind the messages?"
Mack let out a breath and shook his head. "Other than some circumstantial shit, not really. But, with what we've got, it makes sense. Mick seems to think Donnie is good for this and I do too."
"So this trip is a shot in the dark then?" Hawg asked, a little too pessimistically.
We all glared at him for his comment, and he held up his hands in defence.
"I'm just saying," he shrugged.
Bear shook his head, crossing his arms over his chest. "And I'm just saying, Mick and Cash both think Donnie is a good lead. Spread some positive thinking, would you shithead?"
