Happy Monday friends!!

~Bucky~
I knew it.
I fucking knew it!
Trusting Ronnie was a bad idea. She was the wife of a charter president, a man who was very loyal to Mick and his family. There was no way we could have trusted her to keep our secret.
I should have fucking known better. Instead, I listened to my wife.
This was a life lesson for me—never listen to the wife when it comes to matters of safety. Carter was too naïve and trusting when it came to these things. She was too busy living in her own little world that she didn't even bother to think the worst of people.
"What the fuck?" Carter asked, crossing her arms over her chest when the passenger door of the SUV opened and another person finally stepped out.
"I'm sorry," Ronnie said, her expression turning guilty. "Let me explain."
Good. She should feel fucking guilty for lying to Carter like that.
"You told Knox?" Carter yelled, gesturing to Ronnie's husband. "What the fuck is there to explain?"
My ex-brother was standing next to his wife with an unreadable expression. I couldn't tell if he was angry or unbothered by the situation. One thing I knew for sure, he would not keep this from Mick, there was no way.
"Relax," Knox said, holding up his hands.
"You promised, Ronnie!" Carter went on. "What the actual fuck?"
Ronnie winced at Carter's angry tone, but as far as I was concerned, she had every reason to be upset.
"I had to tell him, Carter. How the hell was I supposed to explain where I was going at this time of night? I wouldn't be able to hide this from him, especially not since your mom has already called me over ten times and Mick has already called Knox to warn the charter," she attempted.
Carter rolled her eyes, the anger she felt for Ronnie at this moment radiating off of her so intensely even I could feel it.
"Let's go," I all but whispered to Carter. "We'll keep driving and find somewhere else to stay."
I would drive all night if it meant that I could keep Carter safe and far away from anyone who was trying to break us apart.
"You don't need to leave," Knox said, clearly overhearing what I had proposed to my wife. "I haven't said anything to Mick and I don't plan to."
"You don't?" Carter and I both said in unison. There was no hiding the surprise in our tone, cos we both thought he was here to bring us back to the Tucson clubhouse and hold us there until Mick came to get us.
Knox shook his head.
"If you would have just let me explain, I would have told you. Knox needed to know, but I would have never told him if I thought for one minute that he'd rat you out to Mick," Ronnie assured, placing a hand on her very pregnant belly.
"So you're just gonna let us go?" I asked, turning to Knox.
I had always liked Knox, and I held an immense amount of respect for him even before he had his own charter. I would have never wanted to put him in this kind of position, but now that he was here, I needed to know if I could trust him.
"This is none of my business," he said, holding up his hands. "I'm here because Ronnie wants to help you two and she can't do it alone. Plus, I know a little bit of what it's like to have Mick as a father in law, so I feel for you, bro."
