After what felt like weeks, we finally found out the cast for Romeo and Juliet.

Lacy had been cast as Juliet. Luna and Dawn were guards. Katie was an attendant. And I was Juliet's understudy.

Great, another understudy role that I'd gained. Thankfully, I'd had many understudy roles under my belt, like Little Red Riding Hood, a dwarf, and even Fiona from Shrek.

The only thing that bothered me was that Parker had the role of Romeo, with Hunter as his understudy. I ready to practice so hard that I'd definitely be known not just as Juliet's understudy. I walked over to Lacy to congratulate her.

"Hey Lace. Great job." "You to Phoe." Lacy replied. We'd grown so close over the last few weeks. She was my short person, my midget, my shortest BFF.

"Lace." I said to her, "Promise me one thing." "Whatever you need?" Lacy said. "Please don't get sick or injured for the play. I really don't want to kiss Parker again."

"Hmm... Lake day is next week." I said to myself. I had been looking at the activity board for about ten minutes, just to assure myself of how far away the play was.

I was definitely not looking forward to it. If anything would happen to Lacy over the next five weeks, I'd be Juliet. Forced to kiss my stupid ex-boyfriend, again.

"What are you looking at Phoenix?" someone said. It was Hunter. "Funny," I mumbled. "What's funny?" Hunter asked. "How boys always seems to find me whenever I want to be alone." I giggled.

"If you want, I can leave." Hunter said. "No, I actually want to talk." I instructed. I took a deep breath. I didn't need to put my guard up around Hunter anymore. I mean he's my friend, and I'm starting to trust him.

"So. What do you want to talk about?" Hunter asked me. "I'm not excited about the rest of this summer." I told him. "Why?" Hunter responded. "I afraid that Lacy will get hurt, and if that happens I'll.... I'll have to kiss Parker again." I stuttered.

Hunter looked uncomfortable, like someone had just told him that he was moving away from his best friend. "Oh.. Umm, I don't know how to help with that." Hunter said surprised, and slightly disappointed.

"Why do you look so disappointed?" I asked him. "It's just weird thinking about you and Parker together. I mean your so great, and he's so not." he replied. I laughed.

I don't think I have laughed since I was dating Parker. "That's the first time I've ever heard you laugh." Hunter said. "Yeah, and it feels good." I said still laughing.

"Do you want to go hang out at the lake?" I asked Hunter. "Sure." he responded.

We raced down to the bending tree near the lake. And of course, I won. "Ha. I won." I celebrated when Hunter came trotting down the hill. "Okay, good job." Hunter breathed. We took a seat on a sturdy tree limb, Hunter still breathing like he'd just run a half marathon.

"Truth or dare?" I asked. "Truth." Hunter replied. "Have you ever had a girlfriend?" I said. "Yes. Truth or dare." Hunter said. "Dare." I replied. "I dare you to ask any boy at camp to go out with you." Hunter said. "Are you actually kidding me? Why would I do that?" I asked. "Because I dared you to." Hunter replied.

I hated this. Why would Hunter make me do such a stupid dare. I didn't want to ask any boy out. I mean they're absolutely stupid! "Fine. I'm just gonna say this to get it over with." I mumbled "Would you like to....." "Sure." Hunter said before I could finish asking him out.

Oh my goodness! He said yes, and I didn't want him to.

"Well, I'll see you at dinner." Hunter said. He scooted off the tree limp and walked back up the hill towards the cabins. I still couldn't believe this, I just asked Hunter out.

And I also realized, this would be my first date since I broke up with Parker last winter. I needed to sleep on this. I lifted up my legs and leaned against the tree. And I slowly drifted off to sleep.

The first thing I felt was the stinging, cold water, then nothing....... Great. I'd slid into the lake, and fell unconscious halfway to the bottom. I felt nothing, not even the air in my lungs. My life was over.
