Hello again humans and non-humans. I was real tired this morning because I stayed up late writing that last chapter, and strangely, I have no regrets. Please send help. I have to pee right now but that is something I'm just going to have to deal with and something that you probably didn't want to know. Anyways, now that I'm done rambling, I can finally start being semi-productive for once in my miserable life.
Chapter 12
Boruto made his way to the hospital, going to see Sarada. He weaved his way through the crowd of people jostling along the sidewalks. Konoha was always busy, it was a big, important city after all.
He entered through the sliding doors in the front of the hospital, and went to the clerk. He asked to see Sarada. The lady told him which room she was in. Though, she didn't need to, Boruto already knew it by heart.
He made his way down the hall, growing increasingly nervous the closer he got to her room. He stopped in front of the door in hesitation. Does she even want to see me?, he questioned himself.
" Oh, hello Boruto. Come to see Sarada?", he heard a familiar voice say. He turned around to see Sakura. She was smiling brightly.
" Uh, yeah. Is that okay?", he asked, unsure.
"Of course silly, I'm sure she'll love your company", she told him, " just go in, stop staring at the door like a weirdo". She walked away, with a clipboard in hand
Boruto blushed and turned to face the room again. Its just a stupid door!, he thought as he turned the knob. He poked his head in to see Sarada reading a book. Typical, he said to himself humorously. At least she was acting normal despite her injuries.
" Hey, Boruto", she said offering a smile. Boruto felt his cheeks get warm, and shuffled into the room.
" Hey, Sarada", he said as he took a seat, smiling in spite of himself, " How're you feeling?". He looked at her curiously.
" Much better", she responded," it doesn't hurt nearly as much as it used to".
Hurt. Boruto's eyes watered just thinking about the pain she must've gone through. He shook it off. Don't be such a baby, he told himself sternly.
" How are Konohamaru Sensei and Mitsuki?", she asked.
Boruto snickered a little. " Yesterday Mitsuki tired the hell out of sensei and he fell asleep while we were battling", he said. This made Sarada smile. He like it when she smiled.
" You have a really pretty smile Sarada", said Boruto.
Sarada just stared at him until he realized what he said. He closed his eyes and turned bright red, waving his hands around in a panic.
" I j-just mean that you have, like, a-a nice smile is all, y'know.", he said in a fluster. When he opened his eyes Sarada was trying not to laugh. He was confused.
" I love it when you get all embarrassed, it's hilarious", she said still containing a fit of giggles.
Boruto scowled with a red face and looked the other way. At least I made her laugh, he thought.
He felt something wrap around his hand and saw that Sarada had taken it. This made him blush even more. She squeezed it, still laughing. " I'm sorry Boruto", she said, " you just always act so high and mighty its funny when you sort of, break character and get all flustered", she said honestly and let go of his had. He missed the feeling.
" I-I guess it is", he agreed with her.
He looked up and met her eyes. They were still bright from laughter. He stared at them for a bit. Growing distant in thought. But her voice brought him back.
" Um, Boruto. Why are you staring at me?", she asked.
" Oh! Uh, just lost in thought is all", he said rubbing the back of his neck in embarrassment.
" Hey Sarada", he asked.
" Yeah?".
" Before, you got, hurt. We were in an, argument. And I just wanted apologize for being so mean to you. You were just trying to help and- and I pushed you away. I'm- I'm really sorry for doing that", he said, clenching his fists in anger at himself.
" Its okay Boruto", she said, her eyes darkening a little bit.
" I don't want to start the whole thing again, so you don't have to answer if you don't want. But, really, are you okay. You've just, been acting weird lately and",she paused, " I'm worried".
" It's nothing, really", he lied to her. He didn't want to lie, but he didn't have the courage to tell the truth.
She looked at him closely. He could tell she didn't believe him, but she didn't press.
" I should get going", he said. He didn't want to leave but it was almost time for him to be home for dinner. He stood up from his chair and looked back at her.
" Okay, I'll see you", she said as if she was still trying to figure him out.
" Yeah, see you", he said. He looked at her one last time before exiting her room, and leaving the hospital.
When he arrived home. He ate a quick dinner and went up to his room. He jumped onto his bed. He wasn't miserable this time though. Sarada was doing well and didn't seem to resent him. Though he would always hate himself for what happened. He'd made her laugh.
He put his hand out in front of his face. She held my hand, he thought, smiling softly. He liked the feel of her hand in his.
I want to feel that again.
