Chapter 14
Boruto rocked back and forth on his bed, knees clutched to his chest, heart racing. He fumbled with his fingers, flicking them together randomly. His breathing was heavy. He felt like he was gonna blow up. His face was still an unnatural red.
He pulled out his phone and scrolled through his contacts, stopping on Sarada's. He hesitated and then deleted it. I cant ever be around her again, look at her again, or talk to her again. I'll go completely off the grid, maybe hitchhike to the hidden sand, and hang with the Kazkage. Him and the old man are buds, he'll understand. Maybe then I'll find uncle Sasuke and travel with him. Or maybe I'll become a rogue ninja?, he kept thinking, deliriously.
" I've got to leave Konoha", he said aloud to himself, but then paused, " No, dammit I cant do that. What about mom and Himawari, and I guess the old man". He gripped either side of his head and scrunched up his face in frustration.
" There's no way I can face her ever again", he shook his head and murmured." I did it again, and this time I told her I loved her", his voice went high on the last part, and he covered his mouth with his hand.
He collapsed onto his bed and rolled onto his stomach, his face in his hands. He kicked the bed rapidly, messing up the sheets even more than they already were. he pulled out his phone again and proceeded to text Shikadai.

Boruto: I did a thing. You cant ask what it is, just tell me that it's going to be okay.
Shikadai: ?
Shikadai: Umm, okay? It'll be okay don't worry? I guess?
Boruto: Whatever I don't know why i thought you would help

Boruto turned off his phone and looked around his room. It was really messy. He took the liberty of cleaning it. It was at least some kind of distraction from what was going on. And once it was semi-neat, he decided to leave the house and try to get his mind off of Sarada.
He walked sulkily through Konoha with his hands dug deep in his pockets. The street vendors were annoyingly cheerful and every sign just blasted you in the face with bright neon colors. Boruto decided to go to some of the calmer parts of the city, in hopes of escaping from the excitement.
He was strolling through a quiet neighborhood. No extremely extra things that clashed with his unhappy mood, no loud people, it was nice. He scuffed his feet along the dirty street, kicking pebbles way ahead of him as he went.
Sarada. I really ruined everything didn't I. It's not just me being over-dramatic, is it? No, I just suck at feelings. Mine and others', he lectured himself in his head. Dammit!, he kicked stone really hard and it went flying into a tree. Birds flew out of the tree, squawking in a panic. Dumb birds, life must be so damn simple for them. They don't have feelings, they don't know what it's like, he brooded.
After a good deal of walking aimlessly, he decided that he'd better go home, unless he wanted to be late for dinner.
He made his way back to his houses general area and was about to turn the corner. He felt a hand on his shoulder. He whipped around, brandishing a kunai for defense. The person blocked it skillfully and tricked it out of his hand.
He met the eyes of the person. Dammit, he thought. There standing in front of him was the very person he'd been trying to avoid all day long. " Sarada-", he said, his voice barely a whisper. She was looking at him through narrowed eyes, but he could tell she was trying hard to stay composed.
She lifted her hand up and brought it down on his head, hard. He rubbed his head and whimpered in pain.
She started to lift her hand again and Boruto screwed up his eyes, waiting for her to hit him. But instead she grabbed his collar. She pulled him forward, until their faces were barley an inch apart. She looked at him, her eyes flicked down to his lips. She then pressed their lips together.
Sarada, is, kissing, me?, he thought dumbly. He could feel her grip on his collar tighten. When he fully understood what was happening his face turned red.
She then pulled away and pushed him backwards, giving him one last look before turning on her heel in walking away. Her fists were clenched by her side as she stiffly left him on the corner.
Boruto stared after her as she left, and then reached his hands up to touch his lips. He smiled.
Sarada...
