Chapter 17
The kids from the academy were all going to a restaurant they all frequently hung out at. This of course, included Sarada and Boruto. Boruto was dreading it. He'd assumed that Cho-Cho had told most everyone about he and Sarada's " little thing", as he liked to call it. He didn't want to call it a relationship, because that would imply that they were dating, which they weren't. They were just, a little thing. It didn't really make sense, but to Boruto it perfectly explained their, more-than-friendship.
Boruto and Sarada's houses were pretty close to each other, so they just ended up walking to the restaurant together.
" Hey", he nodded his head at her, trying to act cool. She just gave him a look and sighed.
" So how many people do you think she's told?", she asked with a weary look. " You mean Cho-Cho?", he asked, and she gave him an "isn't that obvious" look.
" I dunno", he replied as he rubbed the back of his neck. Knowing her she probably told everyone, he thought, leave it to Cho-Cho to get in everyone's business.
" I'm going to kill that girl", Sarada muttered with dark look on her face. Boruto backed away from her slightly. It was better not to say anything that might piss her off while she was already angry. And Boruto seemed to be pretty good at that.
They arrived at the restaurant at the same time Cho-Cho was about to go through the door. Sarada stormed right up to her and dragged her over by her collar.
" OW, What the hell Sarada, that hurts!", she shouted.
Sarada stopped and pointed a finger in Cho-Cho's face, " how many people did you tell?", she hissed.
" Relax Sarada, I only told Inojin and he swore not to tell anyone.", she said. Sarada just stared daggers at her.
Sarada pinched the bridge of her nose, " Listen Cho-Cho", she pointed to Boruto and then to herself, " him and me, are NOT dating.
" Sure, and I don't like chips.", Cho-Cho said sarcastically, " You two are most definitely dating.".
Sarada sighed in exasperation and Boruto saw her clench her fists. " Just, never mind Cho-Cho. I wouldn't expect you to understand", she said.
Cho-Cho just shrugged and pulled Sarada into the restaurant. Boruto followed awkwardly behind them.
Other than Sarada, Cho-Cho, and Boruto, Shikadai and Inojin were the only ones there. They sat down and sat in silence. Boruto could all of their eyes burning into him and Sarada. They sat across the table from each other to avoid suspicion, but all the others currently at the table thought they were "dating".
" Who're we waiting for?", he asked, breaking the uncomfortable silence.
" Just Metal, Denki, and Iwabe", replied Shikadai.
After a couple of minutes the others arrived.
" Hey Boruto!", said Denki cheerfully, " I've reached level 60 on the new game that came out, how about you?".
" I got to level 92", he replied wiping his nose with smug look on his face. " Wow!", exclaimed Denki. " I guess you could say I'm a professional", Boruto said with smirk.
" Yeah a professional idiot maybe", Sarada said.
Boruto looked at her angrily. She winked at him and stuck her tongue out. Boruto turned away quickly, his face burning red. He heard Sarada snort. Iwabe, Denki and Metal just sat with confused looks on their faces.
Afterwards, when everyone left, Boruto and Sarada were alone. They started walking and Boruto could hear Sarada, giggling. He gave her a dubious look and she started full on laughing. " What?", he asked.
" Your face in there I CANT!", she laughed some more, " And then Denki and the others were all-", she clutched her stomach, doubling over with laughter. She finally calmed down and wiped her eyes. " Your face was so red, it was hilarious", she said.
" Yeah, well it wasn't that funny", he said, shoving his hands in his pocket.
She slapped him on the shoulder, " Oh shut up, yes it was.".
He was about to be mad at her, but then he saw her smile. It was rare to see her smile, she was mostly just annoyed all the time. Boruto rarely got to see her genuinely smile. He felt himself smile too. " Your smile is, really pretty Sarada.....", he said out of the blue. She looked at him all flustered.
" Sorry!", he said, blushing," It just came out".
Sarada turned the corner that went towards her house, " See you Boruto", she said as she waved.
He grabbed her wrist and pulled her towards him. He met her eyes, and then pressed his lips to hers.
When he pulled away he felt his face turn crimson and he turned away stiffly. He gave her wrist a squeeze and then walked towards his house.
Oh well, what's done is done, he thought to himself.
