"Carry on my wayward son..." Dabi, like the Supernatural trash that he was, shed a single tear in the driver's seat of the car. This car, of course, being one of the ones they happened to commandeer. Demons don't have money, neither do they have morals. Hot wiring a car was perfectly acceptable. Or, so you'd think, but lately, this trio had a lot of emotions running through them and a lot of guilt about their actions. Are we sure they're demons?
"I'm not sure why this was the ideal seating arrangement," Overhaul muttered from the backseat.
"You're still being punished for your trust issues," Tomura crossed his arms. Dabi rolled his eyes. He'd finally gotten a new pair of sunglasses. Thank the universe for that. Forget about showing off Overhaul's soul, the sun burns.
"What are we going to do now?" Tomura asked.
"We're going to find my brother and catch up with him."
"Are you ready for that?"
"I can't avoid Izuku forever, is that what you mean?"
"But, are you ready?" Tomura asked again.
"No."
"That's what I thought," Tomura shook his head. "We shouldn't go."
"I can't keep ru-"
"Running isn't bad," Overhaul shrugged.
"I want to keep our relationship..." Dabi confessed. Tomura clenched his jaw. "What's wrong?" the demon driver glanced over to him.
"Even when I have you, I don't."
"What's that supposed to mean?"
"You're always chasing him," Tomura looked at Dabi then before the King of Satan could blink, he was gone. He immediately swerved over to the side of the road, turned on his hazard lights like a good driver, and whipped his head to Overhaul.
"You saw that too, right?" Overhaul nodded in response to his question. "Where the fuck did he go?!"
"Relax," a sweet chuckle filled the car. "He isn't dead, I promise." A woman sat in the seat Tomura had been in two seconds prior. Her hair green and pulled back into a ponytail. Her overall appearance was motherly and sweet. But her eyes reflected none of that.
"Who....?"
"Do you not recognize me? I suppose me taking advantage of one of the donor's vessels is a bit surprising. You invaded my quarters demanding that I release Izuku Midoriya."
"God," Overhaul muttered. He hadn't believed in the existence of God in his life as a human. Now he fully realized how wrong humanity was in all of their ideas about her.
"Silence," she made a gesture with her hand and Overhaul, like Tomura, was gone in an instant. "This is between you and me. If I had to choose, and it seems I must, you are a much better option for my son than your brother. I'd like you to break up with your two playthings and go back to your original goal now." She put her hands together and mustered a sweet smile.
"What makes you think I'll do that?"
"Oh, dear me, you're seriously thinking that these two mean something to you?" she shook her head and sighed. "I like you for him, do you know why? Because you don't talk back to figures of authority," her eyes glowed more radiantly with Holy Light. Dabi winced, looking away.
"A choice isn't in the cards for you, Dabi," she held out her hand. "Let's just make a bet, then, okay? I'm going to take your personality hostage. I'm going to make a clone of you, identical in every way. The real you will come back with me to Izuku. I'll hide you somewhere in the house. And, if your boy toys manage to realize that the you that's with them isn't you and figure out the puzzle...I just might reconsider."
"Something tells me you're going to do this whether I agree to bet or not," Dabi took off his sunglasses and hooked them onto his shirt. He rolled up his sleeves and breathed in and out.
"Are you mentally prepared now?"
"Of course not."
"Good," she smiled and placed her hand on Dabi's head. She ripped out the closest thing he had to a soul and stuffed it into a jar. It morphed into a smaller version of Dabi. Small, portable, cute, and looked a lot like a nendoroid. "Now, I'm going to give you to Izuku. He is going to do with you what he will, but I am all-seeing. So don't try to talk to him." The jar turned into a specially made box. Now Dabi really was a nendoroid. She snapped her fingers and disappeared. Now all that was left were two terrified individuals back in their rightful locations and fake Dabi, who we shall call Davi, lightly tapping his fingers on the wheel of the car. His 'soul' replaced with another demon, who just so happened to be perfect at pretending to be others.
"I have been falling, for thirty minutes," Tomura shuddered and hugged himself.
"I tried to catch up to you but I was falling a different speed," Overhaul apologized for something that obviously wasn't his fault. But, in any case, the two were back to reality and that's all that mattered.
"Are you okay?" Tomura eyed Davi skeptically. Why were his sunglasses off? Why were his sleeves rolled up? There were two things Dabi hated above all else in his in life: sunlight and his scars. Not to mention the few runner ups: his father, God...and a handful of pet peeves. Tomura had been chasing Dabi for over six thousand years. He knew a thing or two.
"I just came face to face with God for thinking about going to see Izuku and you two were sent to who knows where! Do I look okay?" Davi snapped and reached for his sunglasses. His hand was shaking so they never got on his face. He gave up and went back to tapping the wheel. Tomura reached over and reapplied Davi's sunglasses for him. He remained silent.
"You were right," Davi sighed and rested his forehead against the wheel. "I should just run away."
"Running away is always an option," Overhaul raised his hand. "I prefer it, in all honesty, Izuku has always bothered me."
"I've been avoiding something else, we should go solve that problem first," Davi sat up again and began the road trip to Shota Aizawa's home.
"Why are you running?" Tomura spoke.
"You're the one that suggested it why are you confused?" Davi glanced over to Tomura.
"You never-"
"You said so yourself," Davi interrupted. "You don't like the idea of me meeting Izuku anyway because you're a jealous bastard," he snickered. "Did you ever think that maybe I care about your opinion?"
Tomura already knew something was wrong when he saw Davi's appearance after coming back. He'd assumed it was his imagination, considering he rarely trusted himself, but the clues were there all the same. Dabi didn't care about Tomura's opinion. Dabi barely cared about Tomura. There was only one thing on Dabi's mind for the past six thousand years and it was Izuku Midoriya. He wouldn't change his opinion just from one conversation. Izuku was important to him, more important than Tomura. Just a few months into a relationship can't overwrite that much emotional investment.
Tomura stared at Davi, part of him ignoring the obvious clues because maybe this version would like him. He scratched his neck and thought about it. Should he tell Overhaul the problem? Or should he live through this sweet dream for a little longer? In a world where Dabi only had eyes for him. The longer the car ride lasted the less Tomura trusted himself. He was imagining things. Totally imagining them. Nothing was wrong. His neck began to bleed from the scratching.
"Hey," Overhaul leaned forward and grabbed Tomura's hand, pulling it away from his neck. "Are you good?" Tomura growled in response. "Are you a dog? Hello?"
"I'm fine, sorry," he mumbled. "Just trapped in a labyrinth of my own mind."
"Well, someone got deep," Davi snickered.
"Just focus on driving," Tomura lowered the front seat and crawled into the back with Overhaul. "I'm utilizing your body so stay still," he ordered, cuddling Overhaul like a giant pillow and closing his eyes. He gritted his teeth, reliving images of Hell and his eternal pining. Cleaning up Dabi's mistakes and governing the demons like some makeshift leader. "Damnit," he muttered. Overhaul placed his hand on Tomura's head. The images lingered but weren't as strong as before so Tomura nuzzled his face into Overhaul's chest. This was going to be a long road trip.
