Daria was watching from her window as the snow was covering the streets of Kiev. Because of its relation to the end of growth in the natural world, snow if often linked to death and hardships among the people, but Daria never experienced the hardships the snow could bring to the ordinary peasant. For her snow represented something different, it represented tranquility, beauty, innocence, it made her feel all those nice things she desperately wished she could share with someone. But she always considered love to be the most brutal illusion that people made up, so they had something to believe in.

Daria put on her fur coat shielding herself from the coldness and took a step outside the castle. The cold air caressed her cheeks making them instantly blush with red color. With the way she looked, someone would say that Daria represented cruel Russian algid, with that pale skin, blue eyes and long blond hair.

Daria walked among the people observing them living their every-day lives and carefully making preparations for the winter that is about to come. They didn't have time to look around themselves and admire the beautiful scenes that snow was creating, they didn't have time to admire their princess and her astonishing beauty, they just bowed their heads down in respect as she was walking by. Lost in her own minds, all that she did was simply smiling at them and wishing them successful and merciful winter.

Then she saw Ivar, today, he decided to take a walk around as well. He has been her prisoner, or a guest how he preferred to refer to himself, for almost a week, but Daria haven't spoke to him much lately, she was preoccupied by thoughts of something else. He used something like two stuffs to walk, it didn't look easy at all but at least he could walk somehow.

"The coldness doesn't bother you Ivar?" She asked and he looked at her smiling.

"No princess. Every time I feel coldness, I remember your sweet words about threatening me with blood eagle. It warms me every time." He answered and she could feel a hint of irony in his voice. She returned him a smile and tried walking past him, but he stopped her.

"Don't walk away from me princess, I am nothing but your humble servant." Ivar said and she looked at him with a slight frown on her face.

"Are you mocking me Ivar the boneless? Because I suggest you to be careful with your words or I will toss you to the pack of hungry dogs and watch them eat you alive." She said, but Ivar only smiled as something in his eyes softened.

"There you go princess, sweet words that instantly warm me up."

Daria felt the anger fading, as the frown was replaced with a smile. Not any man ever spoke to her that way, so fearlessly.

"Then you are a masochist, aren't you?" She asked

"Only if you are a sadist, my princess." He quickly replied.

"Aren't we quite a pairing then?" She asked chuckling slightly as the comfortable silence appeared between the two of them while they were slowly walking back to the castle.

After some time, Ivar spoke again.

"I was surprised to find you sitting on the throne. I heard the stories about prince Oleg, what happened to him?"

When he mentioned that name, something in her made her furious enough to finally order his death. But she couldn't blame this man for her pain and misery Oleg put her trough when died. Daria choose to stay silent, as she was walking back inside the castle.

"Come." She whispered walking into the dull but haunting part of the castle. It was an enormous, suspiciously cold room despite all the candles that were burning inside of it. At first Daria hated this place, but after some time, she got used to bloodcurdling melancholy it was making her feel.In the middle of the room was something that looked like a grave of someone that used to be a saint. On it was a figure of a man made of stone with closed eyes, holding a sword close to his heart.

Daria took a candle and lightened it revealing her face in the dark, it had her crimson lips curved into a small smile, while her eyes had tears on it that she was holding back like a true warrior. Ivar watched her smitten by beauty of her sorrow. He felt his heart ache, because someone as strong but at the same time vunerable as her, had to suffer a terrible loss of a loved one, because deep in his heart where he buried the memories of Fredys, sometimes, he felt the same.

"Prince Oleg was my husband." She finally explained.

"How did he die?"

"Do you know why do they call me a prophet?" She asked.

"No princess. But I will listen to you if you tell me the story." Ivar said with a soft voice that was encouraging her to speak to him about something like this. It was hard for her to do speak about Oleg, somewhere he left a hole in her heart that slowly filled with hate every day, and was spreading on her body like a dangerous disease and poisoning her mind as well.

"I was married before as well, I was in love like you were." Ivar said smiling and walking in front of her.

"But I had killed my wife when she betrayed me, I killed our baby the same night it was born." Ivar confessed as if he was asking for a redemption of his almost unhuman sins. Daria almost shivered listening to him.

"Why?"

"Because my son was a cripple, like I am. And I didn't want him to have this kind of life, I wanted to spare him of being humiliated for what he is." Ivar said.

"Now, let me hear you story princess Daria." He finally said replacing the serious look of his face with a small smile. "I am listening to you."

"We will need some wine if we are going to talk about something like this."
