And that is how people of Kattegat got the new queen, the most merciless and most ruthless queen they will ever know, because for the first time in their lives, Kattegat will meet the queen with a frozen heart. There will be ice, there will be fear, there will be shivering and there will be death for everyone who even dare to oppose the queen. Because when she walked, the ice followed her like a faithful vassal, the one one she could ever trust until the rest of her life. And nothing and nobody will ever be able to stop her as long as goddess Skadis is holding her heart in covered with ice, protected from the rest of the world. Brynhildr was unstoppable. As for her enemies, Bjorn Ironside was thrown into the dungeon, alongside with his wives because the death would be simply too merciful, she had experienced both, so she was sure that the life is so much more painful.
Citizens of Kattegat realised that the nee era of Kattegat was thrown upon their shoulders, the dark and cold times that will last until someone defeat the White Queen, if something like that would ever be possible. But some of them also believed that her heart could be melted, someday. And when that day comes, they will live in peace again and they will feel the sun on their skin.
The great hall where Ragnar sat with Lagertha and their son Bjorn, later with Aslaug and their sons Ubbe, Hvitserk, Ivar and poor Sigurd, was not filled with laughter and singing anymore. Now it was empty place that everyone avoided, everyone except Ivar the Boneless who still had hope that the woman he loves will return to him someday. Now the throne wasn't so important to him, he simply couldn't care less about it, about the fame, about the revenge, he simply wanted to feel loved by her again. In his mind Ivar cherished every memory he had with Brynhildr, he often dream about what would happen if he had just arrived on time, if she didn't think he was dead.

But they both made mistakes, and now they both have to pay the price.
It's been some time since Brynhildr was on the throne. It seemed that she simply wanted to be the queen of Kattegat, but soon Ivar realised that she wanted to take the rest of the Norway.
As for Kiev, it was as if she forgotten about everything that related to that place and focused on spreading her power through the Norway. That's why Ivar decided to send his brother Hvitserk and Igor back to Kiev so they could be safe from the new queen. Maybe goddess Skadis wanted Brynhildr to do so.
