A Few Weeks Later

Angel's Point of View

"Shut. The. Fuck. Up," I groaned into my pillow as the squawking of the crows travelled in through the open window in my bedroom. I buried my head under the pillow and willed the noise to stop, but I knew it wasn't going to happen. I sighed and rolled onto my back and stared at the ceiling.

The last few weeks had been a whirlwind of club business and spending as much time with Sophia as I could. There had been a lot of late nights, which was starting to take a toll on me, but I wouldn't change anything. On top of trying to juggle the club and Sophia, I was trying my hardest not to focus too much on the phone call I had received from Lincoln Potter a few nights ago informing me that Adelita had given birth to a healthy little baby boy. I had a son. A son that Sophia knew nothing about.

The bedroom door opened quietly bringing me out of my thoughts. I propped myself up on my elbows and grinned at Sophia. From the moment she became legal, I have to admit there was always something there, but because of the age difference and the fact that Hank was my superior, I never even acknowledged the thought of starting something with her. However, the fact that I was eleven years older than her and the fact that her father was my superior no longer mattered. From the day she came back from Florida she consumed me in every way and I tried and tried to push every feeling aside because of Adelita and because of EZ, but love took over and I knew I couldn't deny it any longer.

"Are you sure you don't want to spend the morning of your birthday in bed with me?" I asked while wiggling my eyesbrows playfully.

"As tempting as that sounds, Laura is taking me out for breakfast," Sophia replied with a smile, "Besides, maybe we should try spending some time together outside of the bedroom...maybe we can do something this afternoon if the club doesn't need you?"

"I'll make myself available," I replied, "Meet me at the butcher shop around one o'clock?"

"Sounds like a plan," Sophia replied as she sat down on the bed beside me, "I have to go, stud. I love you."

"I love you too, babe," I muttered as she leaned in and kissed me softly. I groaned as she pulled away a couple seconds later. I fell back on to the bed and looked up at her, pretending to pout. She giggled and shook her head.

"Don't give me that look," she stated, "You get me for the rest of the day. I promise."

"Fine," I breathed, "I guess that's ok. Now get out of here or you will have no choice but to stay."

"Ok, I'm gone," she replied with a giggle as she slipped on a pair of black ballet flats and disappeared from the bedroom.

I quickly jumped out of bed and pulled on my boxer briefs before running out into the living room where she stood looking down at her cell phone. She looked at me for a moment before looking down at her phone again. I watched the color drain from her face and I was by her side in an instant.

"Babe, what is it?"

She looked up at me again. "Officer Lopez just texted me. He wants me to call him..."

"Go ahead, call him," I urged her, "I'll be right here."

Sophia reluctantly dialed Officer Lopez's number and waited for him to pick up. I moved my fingers in circles on her back to keep her calm. She looked up at me and smiled as she moved in towards me and pressed her head against my chest.

"Officer Lopez, hi," Sophia said after a moment, "It's Sophia Loza."

I could just vaguely hear Officer Lopez on the other end, but it was pointless to try and hear what he was saying to her. I rested my hands on her hips and she never broke eye contact with me as she listened to what he was saying.
