A Month Later
Sophia's Point of View
I stood in front of my childhood home and watched as the real estate agent pounded the 'For Sale' sign into the ground. I was surprised that I didn't feel any kind of emotional attachment whatsoever. It was tainted because my parents were murdered right in front of me, but it was still the home I grew up in. I thought I would feel something, but I only felt relief.
"Well Ms. Loza," the agent said as she approached me with a smile, "The listing has been posted. I will be in contact soon hopefully."
"Thank you so much for all your help," I replied happily, "I appreciate it, but please, only contact me if we have serious offers. I want this house out of my life as soon as possible."
"I heard what happened here..." the agent said sympathetically, "I'm very sorry for your loss, but I can understand why you would want to be rid of a place that holds so many horrible reminders of what happened."
"Thank you," I mumbled, wanting desperately to get out of there, "Look, I have to get going, but I look forward to hearing from you."
I quickly turned on my heels and made my way to my Jeep as quickly as I could without looking like I was trying to escape. Once I got settled I put the Jeep in drive and made my way down the street towards Angel's apartment. I hoped I never had to go near that street again. I hoped to leave those memories behind.
Far, far behind.
I pulled up beside the apartment building a short while later and I saw Angel sitting on his bike talking to a gorgeous woman in the parking lot. My heart sank as I watched Angel get off his bike and stand in front of her, as if in shock, before pulling the woman into his arms. The woman buried her face into his long-sleeved shirt and they held each other for a long time. It was obvious that Angel and this woman hadn't seen each other in quite some time. I realized that this woman was Adelita, the woman that had been captured about a few months ago. Even so, it didn't make it any easier to watch.
The woman finally pulled away from him slightly and looked up at him. Even from where I sat I could tell that he was crying. The woman reached up and wiped his tears away. I knew I should just leave, go to the clubhouse, and pretend I hadn't seen anything, but I couldn't pull my eyes away from the scene playing out before me.
I heard a bike pull up behind the Jeep, but I didn't turn to see who it was. There was a knock on my window just as Adelita closed the gap between her and Angel and pressed her lips against his. I let out a small gasp as my head snapped to the left to see who standing beside my vehicle. It was EZ.
EZ opened the door and looked at me for a moment, a mixture of anger and concern in his eyes.
"Get out of the car," EZ said quietly, "I'm taking you back to the clubhouse."
"EZ...when did Adelita get released?" I snapped as I motioned towards Angel and the woman whose head I wanted to tear off.
"I'll explain...wait, what?" EZ said, looking at me confused, "How did you know about Adelita?"
"Angel told me about her," I mumbled, "awhile back. He told me about what they were to each other, her being captured and what it did to him...but I didn't expect him to run back to her as soon as she got back..."
I got out of the car and looked at EZ. He looked like he was about to say something but he stopped himself. I gave him a weird look before turning back to Angel and Adelita. He pulled away from her and looked in my direction. Our eyes locked and the look of remorse and guilt in his eyes was obvious and for a moment it made me feel a little bit better. My heart began to beat rapidly as he pulled himself away from Adelita and made his way towards us.
