I imagined a volcano. I imagined how hot the core in the Earth is and how magma is form beneath a volcano. The magma from beneath will be too hot to contain that at some point it will burst and cause a majestic yet dangerous eruption that can and will destroy everything in its path.
One might think it caused nothing but danger to mankind. But there is always a bright side to everything. A good that can balance the bad thing that happened to those who are affected. The volcanic ash helps fertilize the soil which are good for the crops. Volcanoes also helps cool the climate with its sulfuric acid that are mixed with the water in the atmosphere. A good example of such cooling is the time when multiple tropical volcanoes erupted that caused the Little Ice Age that happened during the―

"Ouch!" I yelped, my hands immediately flying up to my head as I glared at my grandmother.
"Will you stop the nerdery happening in your mind? You are losing your focus. I told you to clear your mind of anything but the four elements of the Earth. Concentrate on your heart before you use that mind of yours that has nothing but science in it."
I opened my mouth to retort, but she held up her hand.
"No need for that smart mouth of yours, dear." I clamped my mouth shut and pouted. "Use your energy to stop your mind from straying away. And do not even dare think about that cartoon with a bald kid that has a blue arrow on his head."
I was not even going to say or think that anymore.
"Focus!"
I sighed before glaring at the stick responsible for the sting of pain on my head, and closed my eyes.
My grandmother told me that I am an elemental witch. It means that the Earth is connected to me. Such connection means that the environment or even the weather can be controlled by me, my emotions included.
The necklace I have worn my whole life was a gift from her before I was even born. She told me that it is some sort of a shield to my connection on the planet. And that the other beings might do something dangerous to me or my family if my powers are exposed. She waited for the right time to tell me all of this.
And now is the right time, apparently.
After learning a few basic spells for an hour, my grandmother led me outside to the field.
Did I ever mention that my grandmother lives in a countryside wherein the houses are miles away from each other and they are not even in screaming distance? Yeah. She and my grandfather once upon a time owned a farm which also translates that she has a great field of land as her backyard.
That is where I found myself concentrating on feeling the Earth's elements.
"Your emotion's connection to the Earth is not only your ability," she had said. "Every elemental witch has the power to manipulate the Earth's components and use them to their advantage."
"You can easily create a tree with a simple touch on the ground. You also have the ability to pull the fire and water from within planet. And if you would will it, one whistle would create a tornado strong enough to destroy a whole city."
The last parts she said about the abilities my magic provides gave me a chill. With great power really comes with great responsibility.
I sighed again. Thinking about volcanoes did not stop me from doing my "nerdery" as my grandmother would put it. So, I have to think of another.
An image of Ella's mother entered my mind.
What?
Aunt Raine?
