"She said that?" Lafayette growled, taken aback. John nodded sadly, watching Hercules throw Peggy into the water. Watching Alexander and Eliza splash each other. Watching Angelica sit at the water's edge.
"James gave a hint he wasn't that interested in her, she only said that stuff 'cause she was jealous John."
"Are you serious? James doesn't like her?" John's eyes flashed of anger, as they lay upon Lafayette.
"Nope, in fact, you may have some competition." he answered casually.
"Oh my god." John's head fell into his left hand, which elbow dug into his lap as he sat.
"Don't think-"
"How am I supposed to compete with all these people?" His arms wrapped around his knees, leaving enough space for his head. "I can't. Exactly, I can't. Lafayette, I'm done trying." Lafayette stared at John, a strand of curly hair hanging about. His deep brown eyes flicked down to his feet.
"John."
"No."
"John, listen to me." his friend leaned over, picking his head up so his eyes fluttered to see. Children screamed between the silence.
"If you love, Alexander. Go for him. You can't get anywhere just by standing there, waiting to be eaten by a terrible darkness." Lafayette paused, smiling. "He likes you."
"He's not into men." John rolled his eyes, sighing.
"The other day, we were talking about how much he liked you. Does it seem he's straight when you think of that?"
"Yes. 'Cause he means friendship."
"John."
"Fine. No." he smiled, a rosy tint spreading across his cheeks.

"That's what I thought." Lafayette chuckled. He reached into his bag of pretzel sticks Hercules bought for him, handing it to John, who took it gratefully with a squeal.
After a moment of silence, John decided to speak.
"So, when's the wedding?" he smiled, eyeing Lafayette as he almost choked on his pretzel. When he finally calmed, Lafayette shrugged.
"Not sure. We're talking about where we should have it. Hercules wants to do it on our trip."
"Well, you have lots of time if you agree." John expressed between chews. A seagull dropped down from the air, crashing into the pretzel bag Lafayette had left open. John shrieked of surprise, watching as his friend shooed it away.
"Woah. Some angry seagull." Alexander came up towards them, his fingers latching onto his towel he lay upon his chair. John gave him a warm smile, as he turned around to have a glance at him. The two stared at each other.
"You should go down there and have fun with us." Alexander cleared his throat. Mostly talking to John. But Lafayette stood, patting his shoulder as he passed Alexander.
"Don't mind if I do." he then rushed off.
Alexander and John exchanged nervous glances. John stood up from his chair, wiping some sand off his trunks. Alex saw him begin to walk down to the shore, so he threw his towel back where it was and began to walk.
The two walked side by side, their hands almost brushing each other's.

John felt his heart pound, as he realized Alexander stopped him. They stood there, sounds of seagulls above them, kids screaming and running around. People didn't take notice of them. Alexander was kind of short, not too short. Just, maybe up to the nose-length of John's.
"Uh, John?" Alex spoke after a long moment. His brown eyes blinked up at Alexander's.
"Y-yeah?" he stuttered, as he could feel his 'friend's' breath on his cheeks.
"Was the kiss too much?" that left John stunned. Wait, what? It definitely wasn't, I loved it, it brought confidence through me, I thought that we could actually be something after that.
John didn't know what to say. He didn't know how Alexander felt now. Did he feel the same when he kissed John? Is-
"John?" he jerked when he heard his name, John urged a smile, holding his breath as he tried to grapple a bit of confidence.
"Alexander," he started, trying to bring up the words. Suddenly, they all appeared in his mind. Is this actually what love is? The wind twined in Alexander's hair. Yep, this is a moment.
"I'll just give you the truth." John sighed, Alexander's face changing into a worried stare. "I was at James's and Eliza's hotel room, James was already here when I got there. I was super worried that you didn't like me as much, and Eliza just made everything feel worse." he nodded slowly, like he was listening for more.
"She said how it was too early for us. I kind of agreed. We've known each other for two weeks." Alexander sharply stood back. "You agree?" he rasped. John frowned.
"N-"
"Whatever." before John could defend, Alexander turned and stormed off. Where? No idea. The confidence he once had vanished, sadness flickering inside him like a lighter.

A month later

"I can't believe you!" Peggy shrieked, the others behind her. Eliza was hugging Angelica, sniffling.
"I'm sorry Eliza, but, I like him." James peeked over at the girl, buried in her sister's arms. Peggy blocked his sight as soon as she saw.
"Whatever! Just go! Go tell him." John felt his heart snap in half just like Eliza's had done. James, Alexander. James, Alexander. Alexander had moved into James's apartment after John and his little fight, Eliza agreed to take his place. Hercules joined the girls' in their hug, flipping James off.
"I-I, really am. You can't help feelings." his head hung slightly. Eliza slipped from Angelica's safe hold.
"James! I loved you, you knew that! You said you felt the same. Do you know how much pain I've been through?" she cried. Peggy pulled Eliza into a hug from behind.
"Don't talk to him." she warned Eliza. Once everybody left, except for James, John, and Angelica, they all grouped.
"I'll still pay for your stay." Angelica sadly announced.
"Thank you. You're truly kind." he kind of bowed, awkwardly.
"Just know, I'm not mad. It's not your fault you like him." she shifted. Smiling fully. John expressed a sad feeling inside, signaling to Angelica that it should be time to go before he beats James up.
"We've got to go."

Only just a week left, and the cruise ship will be back to pick them all up. There was a delay, as a storm formed. Luckily, no one was hurt.
Alexander sat at the desk that sat beneath the windows, where you could see the ocean, the seagulls, the people. Cuba was beautiful. He had been trying to avoid John, as much as he could possibly could. One time, all of us were hanging out. Alexander had to sit next to John. They had gone to a play, an interesting one. Something about a founding father. Rows of seats led to a open stage.
Everyone had taken seats except for two, that were right next to each other. I was pissed at John, still kind of am. He tried to talk to me during the play, but I shushed him. At one point he may have started to cry. Alexander could hear him sniffle, and every now and then his arm moved to his face. He hoped he didn't though, Alexander felt kind of bad.
Lafayette was on his other side, so he may have comforted him. James opened the door to their hotel room, his chair swerved as Alexander turned to look.
"Oh, hey." he greeted, turning back to whatever he was doing.
James, curious, strolled up behind him. Smiling as he placed his chin on Alexander's shoulder to take a glance of what he was doing.
Alexander didn't seem to care.
"What're you doing?" James asked, wrapping his arms around his friend's neck, loosely.
"Just writing." he'd reply dryly.
"You sure love writing." James chuckled, unwrapping his arms and sitting on the bed behind him. "I actually have to tell you something."
"Go ahead." he proceeded. His right hand wove, after a moment he turned around to identify he was listening. James uneasily sighed.
"Well, we've known each other for a about a month. Maybe even add a few weeks." he started. Alexander's brows furrowed.
"And, I think it's safe to say that I may have been catching feelings all those times we've had those moments."

"Really?" Alexander chuckled, his cheeks flushing. "I kind of feel the same." James stood up abruptly.
"Are you serious?"
"I'm not joking around with you." he giggled.
