The sun dimmed on the open windows, the wind blowing through and nagging at their shirts. Stars began to fade into the nightly sky, the moon following. There was no sound, only the sound of waves that ran against the rocking boat.
Alexander laid awake, his eyes tracing back to John across the room. His heart pained to see him, hurt, with scars. Scars that appear after you don't ask for something to grab at you and tease your throat. His body began to send off a ridgid feeling. Alexander popped himself up using his forearms, his body only a shadow to be seen. He sighed angrily, his hand reaching for his phone next to him.

The nightly air teased at his hair, the pool water lapping at the edge. Silence. Alexander hated it. He laid upon a sun lounger, the deck lights showering him. The cruise ship gently rocked back and forth, enough to keep you asleep. The table next to Alexander held his phone, and a small candle that hadn't been lit.
"Alexander?" a voice yawned, dawning on him. Alexander jumped, his hands prompting him up surprisingly.
"John?"
"Why are you up at 11:45?" John took a few steps closer, rubbing his eyes that indicated he was exhausted. Alexander grinned softly, his back leaning into the lounger, eyes darting ahead towards the open waters.
"Just thinking about, stuff." he answered grimly.
"You notice this is just like a movie." John questioned with a laugh.
"Huh?" Alexander's gaze returned to John.
"Where the girl is sad, goes off to think about stuff, then the man of her dreams comes to see if she's okay." John inched around the sun lounger, and off to the one next to Alexander's, sitting down. "Not that I'm saying your a girl."
"No, you're right." Alexander giggled, his cheeks puffing.

"So, what're you thinking about?" John lay his body onto the sun lounger, his hands behind his head, elbows peeking out.
Alexander sighed sadly, his eyes glancing between John and the ocean. "I'm sorry John."
His friend met his eyes with a questionable glance.
"I really liked, well, I still do. But when I heard you say that you agreed with Eliza, it hurt." Alexander fidgeted with his hands, unsure whether to look John in the eyes or to not look too desperate. Once the silence filled the air, Alexander took a breath, continuing.
"I'm really sorry for taking my anger out on you. I'm only with James because I thought it'd go away." he shook his head, letting John know it didn't work.
"What a coincidence." John spoke, Alexander blinking his attention to him in a confused look. John narrowed his eyes.
"Well, kind of. James is crazy about Eliza."
"Really?" Alexander questioned with an unsure tone. John nodded in response.
