nini wanted so badly for things to be how they used to be between her and ricky. they just talked it through, and now, she was already expecting him to go to some party with her. she knew that it was all fast, but this is what they both wanted.
she was so excited since she had only been to a few small high school parties. she was crossing her fingers underneath the table, hoping ricky would be accepting to the idea of going.
"i'm down. i'll pick you up at 7, okay?" ricky said in a very relaxed tone. nini responded in the same tone, to signal to him that they were okay. "sounds good."
both of them left the coffee shop and got in their cars. nini took the back way home so that she wasn't just following ricky all the way down the street to their houses.

when nini got home, she looked at her phone. it was half past 4. her and and ricky had talked for 2 hours. wow. she decided to finish any homework she had, clean up around the house, and get everything ready for school the next day. after she did ask that, she went down stairs and made some spaghetti and vegetarian meat balls. she decided to text her mom.

when she finished, it was six-thirty. she went back upstairs to her room and started getting ready. she put on a basic outfit with a gold locket. she put her hair in a ponytail with some pieces falling out to shape her face. she added the fun finishing touches by putting on some concealer and mascara.

by the time she was slipping on her docs and grabbing her phone, she heard ricky pull up outside. she walked outside and he leaned over and popped the passenger side door open. he was wearing some black jeans, a champion hoodie, and some black high top converse.
ninis phone buzzed and looked down.

"a winky face? oh, he's so into you." ricky said, pulling his eyes away from nini's phone and rolling his eyes with a teasing smile.
"what? no. he's not." nini said blushing. nini had never had a real boyfriend before. the thought of someone liking her like that excited her.
ricky continued driving, following the GPS. ricky was consumed in his own thoughts most of the drive while nini blasted music and jammed. he glanced over to her while she was singing some Red Orange County somg, her hair moved back and forth. ricky couldn't help but admire her. she was so gorgeous. when ricky was younger, he always expected to end up with nini. it sounds silly, but he did. since middle school, i guess you could say that he had a little crush in her.
but after everything that happened between them, he didn't know if she could ever feel for him the way he once wanted her to. but now they are friends. this is what ricky wanted. friends.
when they pulled up to the location that EJ sent, it was a very nice looking 2 story house. ricky parked his car a little ways up the street, since there were already cars lined up outside of the house and he didn't want to be blocked in. nini and ricky both popped open their doors and hopped out of the car, making their way to the front door.
"are we supposed to knock or...?" nini said as they walked up the porch steps. she was a little taken back, she could feel the music coming from inside the house and it was so loud. just then, some people came stumbling out of the house.
"i'm gonna guess it's open." ricky said with a. smile and a shrug. nini smirked back at him and stepped inside. they walked over to a table with drinks on it and ricky started to joke around.
"now, madam. would you like some cheap beer? or some cheap beer with some lime on the side?" he said, extending his hands like he was presenting a prize. nini laughed and lightly hit his arm telling him to behave. just then, nini felt a held on her lower back.
"hey! i knew i saw you." EJ said as she spun around. nini gave him a warm smile. when she turned around, it moved his hand from her lower back to the side of her waist. rickys eyes were tracking EJs hand intensely.
"hey man." ricky said with a head nod and a toothless smile. he stepped forward, now standing right beside nini. he was on the other side of EJs hand, causing the awkward position to make him remove his hand. ricky tried to portray calm and welcoming in his smile, but his eyes were cold on EJ. he got bad feeling from him. EJ broke his eye contact with nini and nodded back at ricky.
"this is going to be a long night.", ricky thought to himself
