Part 16
~Justin's POV~ "I-I'm so, so sorry Lilith. I didn't know-" "How could you? Don't worry about it. Me and my mom left a while back. I'm just really worried about her." She interrupted me. I turned her chin to face me, and I didn't know what to do, or what to say. I don't know what came over me, but I leaned down, and kissed her. We both pulled back "I'm sorry.. I-I don't know what came over me.." I said, a little embarrassed. "No, I think I needed that." She said. My whole body relaxed when she said that and we both let out a much needed smile. I took her hand and led her back into the hospital. As soon as we got back into the waiting room we we're in, a nurse came in with a clipboard in hand. "Carson? Who's here for Vanessa Carson?" She said with a fake smile on her face. "That's us!" Lilith jumped up. Acting calm, but I know underneath all that smile, she's a nervous wreck. The nurse walked us into a small room with one hospital bed which held the small, fragile body of Vanessa Carson. She looked so sick. Like there was more then just a heart attack going on. "There's something more then a heart attack going on with your mother, Lilith." Woah, that's like, exactly what I just said... "Then.. What's wrong??" Lilith asked holding back her tears. She's strong, I can tell she doesn't normally let herself cry. "This is completely unrelated to her heart attack." The nurse said. Stalling I bet. "AND?!" Lilith almost yelled. "Honey, your mother has stage four cancer." The nurse said with pity in her eyes. "W-wh-what?" A single tear slid down Lilith's face, but she quickly wiped it off. "I'm so sorry. But we probably caught it too late. She doesn't have a very good chance. I'm sorry." Lilith had a blank expression and her mouth was opened slightly. She walked to the chair in the corner of the small hospital room, and slowly sat down. Not saying anything. "Uhm, thank you, miss. Can we have a minute?" I asked politely, but still shocked about what the nurse had said. She nodded and walked out of the room, silently closing the door after her. I walked over to a still stiff Lilith, and took the seat next to her. I put my arm around her and pulled her into my chest, she settled and finally let her tears fall. Yet she didn't make a sound. I decided not to talk, but just to hum to her. After a while she fell asleep in my arms.
