Part 14

~Lilith's POV~ "So are we going back to your place now?" I decided to start a conversation. "Yeah, if that's okay with you." He said with his eyes on the road, one hand on the steering wheel, and the other still holding my hand. I couldn't find it in me to take my hand away. "Yeah that sounds great!" He smiled and I smiled back. Why does he want to see me again? And why is he holding my hand still? I thought to myself. And I just had to ask him. "Why did you want to see me again, after what happened last time?" He looked surprised that I asked that, and I was surprised I asked him that too... "Erm, what happened then wasn't exactly a deal breaker in my book... And I wanna get to know you. Why'd you ask that?" He asked and I felt so relieved just then. "Well, I don't know. I just don't understand why you want to see me, me out of all people." I said pouring out my feelings to him. "Like I said, your different." I didn't reply to that. I just thought about every word he said. Until he took his hand away suddenly and I looked at him. "Sorry, I didn't realize-" "It's okay." I interrupted. We finally reached his house and he got out and opened my door for me. He led me inside where I saw a candle lit table for two. My jaw dropped. He pulled one of the chairs back and motioned for me to sit in it. I sat down and said "I thought we were just gonna be hanging out!!" I said and he laughed "We'll 'just hang out' after this." He said smiling. He sat down in his chair and I took that time to examine what was on my plate. Mashed potatoes, salad, and crab legs. My favorite. My mouth dropped once again when I saw those delicious looking crab legs. "Oh my gosh... I love crab legs!" He laughed "Phew, I was hoping you liked them." We then began shoveling food into our mouths. When we finished, he led me outside to the patio. We sat in silence for a few seconds, until my phone vibrating interrupted. "Hello? Mom? Is everything okay?" She only calls when there's an emergency. "Hello is this Lilith Carson?" An unfamiliar voice asked on the other line. "Uh, yeah. Who is this? Is my mother okay?" I asked beginning to worry. "We're not sure. You need to come down to the hospital right away. Your mother had a severe heart attack." I dropped my phone on the ground, in shock. "Lilith? Who was that? What's wrong?" Dangit, our date is ruined again. "My. M-moms in the... Hospital." I stuttered. He jumped up, picked up my phone, and then proceeded to pick me up bridal style and ran to the car. My mom had a heart attack.
