GENERAL:

This book is a collection of poetry for The National Poetry Month of 2020.

Yes, I know, I know, another poetry book? But then I could not resist it, not when I found out that April is the National Poetry Month (a celebration of poetry which takes place each year in April, was introduced in 1996 and is organized by the Academy of American Poets as a way to increase awareness and appreciation of poetry in the United States. Though now it is celebrated all over the world with most countries having their own version of it.)

And I discovered it on April 1, 2020 with enough time to start it off. So here it is, 30 poems to celebrate poetry. But why poetry, well, I shall use one of the Master's words to answer it.

And so my attempt, I am not sure if what I will write would be poetic, beautiful or lovely, but then I want to do something. Something that makes me hope, hope that this period of unrest and uncertainty would soon be over. That even though our lives and the world as we know of it will never be the same, we will emerge stronger. That we will change for the better, and that we will treat each other with empathy and humility.

This also brings me to why I named my collection as Ambedo

This was defined by John Koenig;  etymology - from albedo, (derived from Latin meaning whiteness) a physics term that describes the proportion of light reflected by a substance

This was defined by John Koenig;  etymology - from albedo, (derived from Latin meaning whiteness) a physics term that describes the proportion of light reflected by a substance. Ambedo refers to a tendency to both reflect and absorb.

Aptly sums up our current situation, does it not?

And just to challenge myself, I shall endeavour to write a different poetic style each day.
