Nine minutes the earthen lamps light,
Flickering flames dance in the wind,
Nine minutes of chosen darkness,
To be dispelled by courage of our heart.Nine minutes of solidarity
In response to one man's call
Nine minutes when people came together,
Standing tall against an invisible enemy.Nine minutes of unity
As in unison, the country prayed,
Nine minutes of harmony
As together we stood for hope.
Today is a free verse. In response to the call given by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi's appeal to turn off lights at their homes for nine minutes at 9 pm on this day, to display the country's collective resolve and solidarity to defeat the virus. I was slightly skeptical but did join it, only to be overwhelmed by a sense of unity and solidarity.Indeed together we stand, together we conquer.
