By that definition, apart from the fact that I love to write poetry (irrespective of what anyone would define poetry as) makes me a poet.

I love the language, more the fact that the words of the languages (I can speak and write, fluently in three languages, though I write poetry only in English. But I can appreciate the poetry and the beauty in all the three) can be used to make music, to move people to tears, to convey emotions, to give hope and assurance. And also that they are powerful enough to cloud reason, sway multitudes and destroy hundreds.

Words are powerful.

And when such powerful things are arranged, written down to make poetry; simple or complex, dealing with everyday things or discussing strange phenomena, express emotions, you create art. Poets are a strange lot; reviled with gusto, worshiped with enthusiasm and ridiculed with a passion. But poets are brave too; for having the courage to bare their souls and lay the words open to public scrutiny.

It takes courage and foolishness in equal parts to make a poet.

I loved writing this collection of poems, one for each day. A journey that gave me hope as I stayed indoors for all the thirty days (On an aside because of negligible vehicular traffic, the air is cleaner and clearer and the tiny sparse jungle that I can view from my balcony is suddenly teeming with birds, peacocks, wild crow, humming birds, baya weavers and my beloved sparrows). The sunsets and moon rises are spectacular too.

(Well, I could not resist showing off 😂😂😂, the views from my balcony)

And back to the topic.

This book was a learning experience as I discovered that there are more than three hundred forms of poetry. WOW - so many and I could barely write out thirty of them. Reading about them, learning the new forms also meant discovering poets, familiar and new.

This was a poetic journey that I enjoyed. I hope the readers who undertook the reading of this book enjoyed it too.

Best,
Nyna
