Yall I legit have been obsessed with writing this week, legit I can't stop. Every second of my free time has been putting pen to paper, and I even have been working on it when I technically am not supposed to. My ideas for this have been flowing nonstop, and I cannot wait for you to all read this chapter and let me know what you think. Okay, enough said, get to reading you guys!!!!~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Kayla's PoV:The longer I let the information I learned fester, the more I feel as if I am about to explode. The fact that something like this could occur in a place where people blindly put their trust in the leadership shocked me to my core. I couldn't go to Jasper or Gemma with this, they would just act on their initial reaction, and who knows what that would be. I breathe in deeply and make my way to find Sebby. I need someone who has been here for a while and will actually help me figure out what is going on.
The halls are empty as I walk down, making me question things even more before I remember that it is still in the middle of the day and classes are in session. The bulletin board I pass makes me stop in my tracks. All the decorations have been removed and the only thing that remains is one neon orange sheet of paper. "Honor Trial Participants:" I was dreading this moment since Madam Carter informed me that my fate would be in the hands of my fellow classmates. There are only a few names on the list that I even recognized, but that was to be expected for a fair trial. Hopefully, the same thing can be said for Gregory or this may be biased from the beginning.
As I stand there, the bell rings, startling me while people come out of their classrooms. I turn and see Sebastian coming out of the class. He smiles at me, but it drops quickly as he looks past me. The look of seriousness on his face makes me pause as I've almost always seen him as this happy-go-lucky friend. I turn around and suddenly understand the change in his expression as I see Gregory and his group of fraternity-like friends. They're, as expected, joking around about the entire situation, with me obviously as the forefront of the punchline. I feel frozen in place as Sebastian steps in between Gregory and me, hiding me from his view and vise versa.
"Keep joking Greg. We'll see who's laughing once people find out the truth about you," Seb snaps as the group passes us. The entire pack of these immature boys mimics and mocks Sebastian, taking the attention ever so briefly off of me. A deep sigh of relief came out of me as I leaned against the wall, glad that Gregory had somewhat left me alone. Sebby turns to me and envelops me in a hug. So much has happened in the few hours that I haven't seen him and I need to fill him in on everything. I look up at him, thankful that I was able to find such a sweet and caring friend so quickly. "The trial or whatever is going to be starting in a few hours, the first part shouldn't be too hard since it will mostly be Madam Carter telling those participating what is going to happen and the order of things. I'm not sure if you know this, but Sasha is going to be your quote on quote lawyer. Not that this is a legal proceeding, but you will have someone to fight on your side so you aren't going through this alone. Trust me, you'll be in good hands. We've already talked about everything and the opening statement is," he humorously kisses his hand like an Italian chef, "sublime." We laugh and the conversation shifts to the earlier afternoon's events, filling him in on all the juicy details that went down between Jasper, Gemma, and I.
After as much tea about my little fun time was shared, we relaxed around in his room. Looking around, I see that while the room is decorated, it is almost all Sebastian's stuff. "Sebby, does Sasha not bring a lot of stuff here? Basically, everything in here is yours." I ask as I hold a picture of Sebby and his family.
"Oh, we are still unpacking. Sasha just hardly seems to be in this room, and when we both are here together..." He looks at me and wiggles his eyebrows suggestively. I laugh and throw a couch pillow at him, weirded out by the idea that he could actually dominate anyone. He stands up and goes to the closet to grab a button-up shirt, "Gotta represent for #TeamKayKay."
"Boi, I definitely did not just hear you talk in hashtag form like some sponsored YouTube influencer!"
"How dare you! I am an Instagram influencer at best," he mocks me as he continues to get ready. How has this experience been simultaneously been so good and so bad? I had to survive and endure Gregory, but through this, I have also gained a best friend in Sebastian. He looks at me as his expression grows more serious. "Seriously Kayla, are you going to be okay through all of this?" His question not only makes me think about the trial but about the information Madam Carter said to me.
"Oh shit, I completely forgot to show you! I quickly pull out my phone as I start talking a mile a minute. Somehow Seb gets me to stop for a moment to tell me to slow down. I begin to go picture by picture, explaining everything that I found. The shock on his face is evident, almost as if all of the puzzle pieces started fitting together. "Madam Carter figured it out, but she hasn't done anything about it. I think someone over even her head is pulling the strings and keeping this quiet." Sebastian makes several attempts to form a sentence but is too thrown to figure out what to say, "I am certain that I am not the only one that this happened to. Honestly, I am not even sure that Gregory is the only one that has done this."
"Kayla, do you get that you basically discovered the Watergate of this whole damn academy?" He shakes his head as he stands up to pace back and forth across the floor in front of the coffee table. He and I talk for over an hour, connecting all of the dots from the files and from what Sebastian can remember about each girl he knew. This scandal only seems to be growing as we talked, and we become even more resolved in our determination to take Gregory down.
We put our conversation on hold as we began heading down to the trial. Before going in, Madam Carter pulls me aside to talk. "Are you doing okay, my dear?" I can sense her genuine concern, and it's nice to feel cared for. She tells me a bit about the process that is going to happen today, just some general information to know before she explains this all to the jury. I thank her for the information and go inside to sit at my assigned location. More people trickle in, whether they are part of the jury or people like Sebastian who want to observe and support either side.
Gregory walks in looking like the king of the fucking world, followed by his doting frat-brother-esque group. They were all dressed in sports coats, most likely an intimidation tactic to make me feel like he has this bulletproof defense. It's too bad I have a nuclear bomb of information that'll seal his fate. I see Jasper and Gemma walk in, but I am more so distracted by the tall muscular man behind him. He wore his suit like a knight clad in armor. His hight and chiseled jaw would have intimidated even the cockiest of men. I sink into my seat, somehow dreading this trial even more. If this is the "lawyer" that Gregory has, Sasha and I won't even stand a chance to get a word in. How are two submissives going to stand up against that giant of a man??
