Chapter 40- Once a Rigger

Kayla's PoV:
Gemma hardly waited for Damien to give the all clear before she barged through the door, immediately jumping onto the bed Damien and I were just laying in. Oh how room can change atmospheres within a moment's notice.

"Kayla, have you seen Jasper? He ran off again, I know you guys talked at breakfast and that is the last I've heard of him. He's done this a couple times before, usually only at nights. I thought it was just him being jealous and impatient because he wanted the both of us, but I think something's going on," Gemma rambled on as Damien leans against the door post.

"What do you mean by going on?" I ask as I throw a hair tie into my mess of curls to keep them out of my face. As Gemma continues, Damien moves behind me, undoes my hair and gently braids it. I roll my eyes, once a rigger, always a rigger.

"So, ever since the trial, it's like Jasper has been obsessed. He doesn't know how something like this could have been going on unnoticed and he thinks there's something the school isn't telling us. He thinks he's some private detective now going off trying to figure out what's going on. I wouldn't even know any of this is happening except I tried to surprise him in some lingerie and found a file under his clothes."

"A conspiracy? What does he think that the school is run by some Mafia that Greg is in charge over something?" Damien laughs as he finishes braiding my hair. Gemma rolls her eyes at him, and then quickly looks at him

"So since you guys are obviously together, do I have to treat you like my professor in situations like this, or can I be my sassy self?"

"Gemma you're fine, just as long as you respect Kayla and the dynamic we are forming, consider yourself relaxed aside from the classroom with me," immediately Gemma laughs, and then throws a pillow at Damien's head. "Now what was that for?"

"You're the Dom, and you didn't ask for approval to chase my girl from either myself or Sebastian. Yeah it's only been like a month or two, but after everything we've gone through, she's family."

"Ah, my apologies, shall make it up to you with a Ring Pop?" I have to cover my mouth to stop myself from laughing hysterically. Who tries to make up for wrong with a Ring Pop?

"Apology accepted, now on to the big things. What are we going to do about Jasper?"

"Well I don't believe that there is a mafia controlling the school, but if you are concerned I know Kayla will be as well. I'll get Turner and a couple of other professors to come with me and see if we can find him. This is a school after all, and while you all are adults and old enough to live your life as you please, while enrolled here we are responsible for your safety. Give us until the end of tomorrow and I will let you know what we find out." I smile up at Damien as he answers Gemma, my heart melting at the fact that he already cares about the well-being of my friends. I tug his shirt down till he is face level with me, and kiss his cheek.

"Thank you, Damien"

"Ah, ah, ah. That's one missy."

A/n
You guys, I was actually able to write this at work! I have a new job as a nanny and while he was down for a 3-hour long nap, not only did I get to do the dishes and relax with some music but I also found the inspiration for a new chapter. I'm so sorry it took so long it's literally been hurting my heart not be able to have the time to write, but I'm now balancing four jobs and this passion of mine. Until I learn how to balance my schedule updates will be slow and sporadic. I'm going to do the best that I can to write as much as possible right now and during his naps, but it's not a guarantee of when I'll be able to post. Thank you so much to everyone that reached out and checked on me during this little writing break, and I promise I'll be writing soon. I love reading every comment you guys write. Getting to experience the book with you as you experience it for the first time is one of the most encouraging and exciting things about writing, and it's why I love it. I love seeing how you guys react to the stories, and react to the plot twists, so please don't stop commenting it means the world to me.
