*The Royal Tour, Part Two: Day Two*

Brooklyn's POV

Day two was now upon us and without Laylah and I even sharing any words between each other, we both knew that this week wasn't going to go by as easily. It's not that I was scared of Audrey and Clara, far from it. It took a lot to get me scared. It was the fact that there was so much that was unknown about them, that it made me curious. It made us both curious but we all know the saying, 'curiosity killed the cat.' and Laylah was quite literally a cat, so did I even want to explore that curiosity deeper?

Right now though, we were in Court.

It was pretty early morning but crime never slept so I guess it was only fitting that Court was held at all times of the day. Audrey asked us the night before if we wanted to sit in and we didn't hesitate to say yes.

As a General, I very rarely took Court, that was something that the King and Queen dealt with personally. Only if they were ridiculously busy, would I then step in to deal with it, but even then, it's more likely that they would just postpone it for another day.

Laylah and I were standing behind Audrey to her right waiting for the Court session to start. I didn't know how many prisoners that there would be but I was very intrigued to find out,

"Will Clara not be joining us this morning?" Laylah asked. I was actually wondering the same thing.

Audrey turned in her throne to face us, "She doesn't hold Court. She never has and she most probably never will."

"Any particular reason why that is?" Laylah replied, sounding just as confused as I was. It was pretty unheard of for only one royal to hold Court. It was either held by both or none at all,

"When we first became Queens, she expressed her dislike for it straight away. The Court sessions in general are very sporadic with their timing and with Clara running Reylar Enterprise she just doesn't have the time for it."

I could tell that Laylah wanted to ask something else but I brought my hand out by my side and shook my head. That was a sign for her to leave the conversation where it was before she got herself into trouble. She looked at me briefly before keeping silent. Her tail swayed softly behind her and her ears twitched slightly. Whether that was from the sound outside or out of annoyance, I didn't know but we both knew not to cross any lines, at least not on the second day.

Audrey looked between us both before she turned back in her throne, just in time for the double doors in front of us to open up. Two guards walked in holding what looked to be a middle-aged woman. Her scent was very strong and also very familiar. She was a mage,

"Prisoner number eight-six-six-four-seven-two-one. Olivia Peyton. Charged for trespassing."

"Miss Peyton," Audrey started, "You are a long way from home, assuming you have one back in Kindridas?"

She shook her head, "I was exiled six years ago for using a forbidden spell."

"Unfortunate. You know there is no law against other species living in different realms. If you were merely looking for somewhere to settle, I'm sure that could've been arranged but instead, you decided to trespass on castle grounds. I would usually ask the question of why but I don't think that's necessary. While I don't believe that you're a threat, there still needs to be consequences for your actions, so with that in mind, I'm going to sentence you to six months in prison, followed by another six months in reform. Consider yourself lucky Miss Peyton."

Olivia bowed her head and Audrey nodded to the guards, allowing them to lead her back out of the room, the double doors closing behind them, plunging us into an almost deafening silence.
