= Ken's POV =
The taxi dropped me at a hotel.
I was wearing a black coat over my navy blue long sleeve, black tie, black slacks and dark brown leather shoes.
"Excuse me." I said to the receptionist at the lobby. "Which way to the Oda's Party?"
I flashed them my invitation.
"On function hall eight, sir." He said.
He then asked another staff to lead the way for me. A few walks later, I'm at the hall.
The hall was full of people in formal suits and dresses. An usher approached me and gave me a corsage.
"Thank you." I bowed to the usher.
The usher bowed back and left. I then attached it to my coat. While roaming around the hall some of the guest look at me and whisper at each other.
"Isn't that Kentaro Oda?" One guest whispered.
"Yes." The other guest next to him answered. "Rumour has it that he went independent."
More whispering were reaching my ear but I tried my best to ignore them.
"Oh Ken-kun!" A woman waved not far from me.
That woman's name is Ayami Oda and she is my mother. She was wearing a white dress.
"Hello, mother." I bowed to her.
"How's my boy?" She hugged me. "Wait, you look pale."
"I'm fine." I said. "Just work."
"What kind of work?" She raised an eyebrow. "Are you working at a publishing company?"
"Kind of." I said.
"I see you're still not polite on answering." A voice behind us said.
When I turned, the voice turns out to be a man wearing white coat over a black sleeve, blue tie, white slacks and shiny black shoes.
That man was my father.
"Good evening." I bowed.
"So, did you have a change of heart?" He said. "Did you realize that your choice was an immediate failure?"
"Seichiro!" My mother went between us. "Your son just shown himself, show some gratitude."
"I will if he show some respect." He said.
"Don't bother mother." I said. "In fact, may I ask the two of you if you heard about an author name Bakageko-san?"
"You mean that writer who had three best selling novels in a year?" My mother said.
"Ah, that famous one." My father said. "Are you saying you're aiming for success that is in par with him?"
He adjusted his coat.
"As if you can?" He looked at me in the eyes.
"Actually, I already did." I said.
"Oh! You see Seichiro." My mother seemed pleased.
"Really?" My father said with a skeptical look. "I never seen your name anywhere."
He laughed insultingly.
"Actually I am Bakageko-san." I said.
My father stopped laughing while my mother's eyes widen.
"It's early for an April's Fool joke." He said.
