Bobbystruggled to catch his breath as he pulled the latch on the car door. He hadrun as far as he could, now it was time to do the smart thing and drive.

Charlie picked up one of the broken boards from the pile of scraps he created. He could already see it jutting out of Karen's head as he traced his fingers along the splintered edge. His head was swimming from blood loss, but he didn't care. He would make sure they died before he did.

Karen nodded to Wyatt. She was too far away to grab the axe herself, but he was only a few feet away. Besides, Charlie seemed the most focused on her at the moment. It was up to Wyatt to save both of them.

With each footstep towards her, Karen felt every fiber of her being cringe. She wanted to run, to hide, but most of all, to escape. This wasn't an option anymore, the only way they were going to make it out alive was if they stood their ground and fought. There was no more running away or hiding, it was time to face the music and all the sour chords it could muster.

When Charlie was half-way to Karen, the furthest Wyatt would let him get, he lunged for the axe on the floor. His unexpected movement caused Charlie to pause and turn towards him. With one more scream, Charlie twisted his body and charged at Wyatt who pushed himself closer to the weapon.

Karen fell back against the window, a scream on her lips. It was in that second right before Charlie swung his weapon down on Wyatt that Sophie appeared in the doorway.

"No!" The word reverberated through the room. Sophie threw her hands out as if she was pushing him all the way across the room. An invisible force traveled through the air and slammed into Charlies body. The impact sent him flying into the barren shells of what used to be bookshelves.

Karen and Wyatt turned to Sophie who stood triumphantly under the archway. Unfortunately, the joy didn't last long as their assailant pushed himself off the floor once again. Wyatt turned to Karen, the word didn't need saying, but he yelled it anyway. "Run!"

Jason wiped the blood from his hands off on the woman's skirt. She was exactly what he needed. He felt calmer now, more in control. The world around him appeared less claustrophobic. He ran his now clean fingers along the angles of her still face. It was covered in wrinkles that were so deep they probably went all the way to her underlying bones.

He studied her now still face, he took in all the details that he could. A mixture of blood and tears stained her pale skin. Her leather like epidermis was tuff under his torn fingertips. A surge of rage raced through his body. He grabbed the woman by her tightly knotted hair, lifting her head up only to slam it back down on the ground. He did this until his anger subsided, by the time he was done, her face was unrecognizable.

Letting go of her head, he turned and stood. He needed to find someone else to kill. She wasn't enough to quench his persistent thirst. There had to be more victims somewhere in this place.

Sophie waited until Karen and Wyatt were both safely out of the room before she stepped through the doorway and closed the remnants behind her. She wasn't leaving until Charlie was dead. In the same fashion she had sent him flying, Sophie pushed the furniture back in front of the door. She didn't want them to witness what she was about to do, more importantly she didn't want them to get hurt in the crossfire.

Wyatt held onto Karen as they ran down the hall. They needed to keep going, Charlie couldn't be too far behind them. It was with that thought that Wyatt came to a stop. He didn't hear any footsteps following them.

"Wyatt! We need to keep going, Charlie is-" Wyatt pushed away from Karen so he could turn around. Not only was their attacker nowhere to be seen, but neither was Sophie. "Where's Sophie?" Karen voiced the question that echoed through his mind.

"I have no idea."

"You don't think Charlie grabbed her, do you?"

"I don't think so."

"Then where is she?" Karen was frantic now. She couldn't decide if they should turn around and go back for her, or if they should keep running.

"I think she stayed." Wyatt's words were quiet. He was too busy thinking about Sophie's newfound abilities. She had thrown Charlie without even touching him. How was any of this possible? First Paul and his claim to seeing the future, then Karen killing Paul with a single kick that sent him flying, and now Sophie. None of this should be possible.

"Wyatt!" Karen shook his arm pulling him out of his train of thought. "Why would she stay?"

"To kill him."

"You should have run while you could." Charlie spat the words at Sophie who just stood and observed him.

"Did you really think the house would let you get away with killing us?"

"What the hell do you know about any of this. You're nothing but a stupid little girl!"

"I know a lot more than you do. You think that the house would put everything on a deranged psychopath?" Sophie erupted in a fit of laughter while Charlie watched, a scowl present on his face.

"Let me guess, you're not really the girl standing in front of me. You're some kind of entity currently possessing this poor excuse of a human."

"Not this time." With that Sophie threw her hands out in front of her again slamming Charlie back into the bookshelf.

Bobby pulled up in front of the fence that surrounded the entire town. The gate needed a code, a code he didn't have. There was no time to stop and contemplate whether this was a good idea or not, so instead he slammed his foot on the gas pedal and rammed into the fence.
