The next day came way too quickly for Iwaizumi's liking. He pondered over the possibility of his friends discovering his biggest and most recent secret. They knew him better then anyone and the chances of them finding out were quite high. Missing school wasn't a risk he was willing to take mostly because volleyball was something precious to him. He wouldn't skip either over such a petty reason.

'I am stronger then that' He repeated over and over in his head. Willing himself to believe in his own thoughts. Maybe if he repeated those few meaningless words constantly that even he would convince himself that it was true. Oh how he wished it were that simple.

Slowly he looked down mesmerized, the only thing keeping him lively this early in the morning was his refreshing warm cup of coffee. Eagerly taking a sip, he burns his mouth slightly ignoring the uncomfortable burning sensation. A couple sips later and he gradually started to feel better. It wasn't helping with the migraine nor the pain in his chest but anything to ease his frustration. In this case it was the beautiful weather that wasn't too cold nor too hat and his favourite beverage he had almost every morning to ease his mind, his cup of coffee. A little bit of sugar and a little bit of milk, almost black.

Recently he hasn't been sleeping, most would blame it on the caffeine as did he but that wasn't the case. At least not today. His heart kept racing and ached with every unwanted leap.

The thought of looking his best friend in the eyes overwhelmed him even worse now that he knew the reason.

The feeling was erratic, sending shivers down his spine.

'Weak.' A voice spat in the back of his mind.

'You'll lose him at his rate.' He couldn't bear the thought so he closed his eyes trying to forget the nightmare he had the night before. His body ached from the lack of sleep, two hours for him just wasn't enough. Especially with all the negative thoughts.

Walking out the front door he shouted over his shoulder his farewell to his mother who was currently busy speaking on the phone. Just as he was about to close the door, he saw the women rush around the corner waving as she held the boxed object to her ear. Upon seeing the silly grin on her face, a ghost of a smile played on his lips.

Until he looked over and made direct eye-contact with his neighbour who was just exiting his house. His good mood that he worked up over less then minutes ago- faded, along with his smiling eyes that shone through the pain he tried so hard to cover up that morning. Iwaizumi looked away almost instantly like he had just been struck by lighting and continued his journey to school nonchalantly.

He loathed his neighbour. He was the type of person who loved to cause havoc for others and didn't so much as look back after the damage has been done. He needed to be careful what he said around his house otherwise he'd lose the game.

The game of hatred between two foes. They never got along even when they we're kids.

He let out a breath when a car approached his neighbour. If he would've walked next to him opening his mouth, Iwaizumi wasn't too sure if he could remain calm. Taking a couple more sips from his coffee he put in his earphones playing low relaxing music with slight base to block out everything around him. Including his unsteady heartbeat that seemed to beat faster as he neared Aoba Johsai where the journey of his feelings met it's peek.

As if the damn of his own vulnerabilities and strength finally broke filling up the empty pound of his confusion and complications. The shine above the light blue colour of beautiful clear water was bright as ever and he didn't want to know what was on the other side. He was afraid of what he could find over the now broken damn.

After all, the outcome is never a happy ending. Especially when the water falls.

"Iwaizumi!" A voice shouted breaking him out of his trance. "Over here!" Hanamaki waved frantically at the boy who looked the same as usual. Almost emotionless as he patted his way over chuckling.

"Hey, you're here earlier than usual." He scratched the nape of his neck as he glanced around. "Yea, I was waiting for you." Hanamaki replied oblivious to Iwaizumi's anxiousness.

They walked together as they entered the obnoxious building. He was already feeling irritated and he hasn't even made it to first period. "I actually wanted to talk to you." He said looking at Iwaizumi as he rummaged though his locker. He hummed a response as a sign to continue.

"You're coming over to Matsukawa's house later tonight, right?" He asked hopeful. "I rather not be stuck with the two alone." He added.

Iwaizumi's face remained expressionless as he peeked outside his locker. "Then why go?"

He raised his hands exasperatedly. "Common man! I just want to hang out with my bro." Hanamaki usually wasn't this persistent and it was slightly becoming bothersome for the brunette. However worry struck him almost instantly and his friend noticed.

"Hey are you okay?" He rested his hand on Iwaizumi's shoulder. The green eyed boy seemed at a loss for words as he looked over his shoulder and noticed the captain. His eyes widened ever so slightly before he masked his features skillfully removing his friends hand. "I'm fine, I just remembered I don't have plans tonight so I'll be there." Delight and joy filled the other's eyes as he grinned from ear to ear.

"That's good to hear, now lets go before we're late." They walked to class in comfortable silence as they waited for practice, their favorite period.

The day dragged on as usual and Iwaizumi wanted nothing more then to go home and get a good nights sleep. But his wishes were crushed as he remembered the outing he agreed to on. Immediately regretting his decision.

Volleyball practice was finally here and the first time since two and half weeks ago that he's properly spoken to Oikawa.

Now he had no other choice but to fake it till he made it.

After changing into his gym uniform he entered the gym unbothered like he always did. No one knew how he really acted, most likely because of his stoic self. He liked it this way though, considering no one ever knew what he was thinking. Not even Oikawa.

"Alright! Will start with warm-ups and then on to serving." The coach instructed as they all jogged around the gym and then did the regulatory stretch routine. After a couple minutes the team moved on to serves while a couple other players stayed on the receiving end practicing their receives.

"Nice kill!" Matsukawa said as he nearly missed Iwaizumi's serve.

He nodded. "Nice receive."

The practice when on until it was time for spiking drills. "Iwa-chan!" Oikawa's over-cheerful voice echoed through his ear and out the other.

"How was the set? Was it too low?" He asked still holding that stupid looking grin.

"It was fine, send me another one." Iwaizumi spoke in his casual and typical tone. "Of course."

Watari sent Oikawa a ball throwing it directly above his head. He looked up to see Iwaizumi ready to spike the ball, but something caught his attention and that was the rage prominent on his friends face.

The ace swung his arm back along with his upper body, hitting the ball landing a direct spike full force into Kindaichi's shoulder blade.

Losing completed focus, he aimed a sharp cut-shot to someone who clearly wasn't ready for the attack nor fully on the court.

He rushed under the net immediately standing in front of his underclassmen. "I'm so sorry. Are you okay Kindaichi?" He smiled awkwardly yet apologetically.

"Y-Yes! I'm okay don't worry!" He sighed in relief until he saw his coach approach him with caution.

"Be more careful, son. Look where you're aiming." He nodded not knowing how to respond. "Yes sir."

And with that, they ended practice. Then it came all too suddenly. It was time for his outing with the boys. He was even more nervous now that Oikawa was skeptical of his unusual mistake and slight outburst. Not that it was surprising but during practice that's a completely different story.

Just as he was pulling out his phone he heard footsteps nearing behind him. He turned around unamused.

"Iwa-chan! Wait!"
