Niall’s POV

After being at Shawn’s place for almost four hours, I finally decided that it was time for me to make my leave.

“I’ve got to head out,” I said, putting the guitar down on its stand.

“So soon?” Shawn asked, putting his own guitar down.

“Yeah, it’s been almost four hours,” I said looking at my phone.

“Really? It’s been that long?” Shawn asked.

“Yeah,” I said.

“I guess time flies when you’re having fun,” Shawn said.

“Yeah, I guess so,” I said.

“Well, if you have to leave, I don’t want to keep you any longer,” Shawn said.

“Alright,” I said, becoming slightly awkward. “I’m going to head out now. Thanks for having me.”

“Of course, you’re welcome any time,” Shawn said.

I nodded. “Alright, bye then,” I said, leaving the room and heading towards the front door.

“Bye,” I heard Shawn say before I left his apartment.

I stood at the door for a moment, wondering if I should walk back inside and continue writing before I walked down the stairs and to my car.

Since then, it's almost been a week and I haven't heard from him. Which is why I miraculously found myself standing at the door of Shawn’s apartment. With nearly a million thoughts flooding through my mind, I knocked on the door. That’s when I heard shuffling come from inside the apartment. Then, without giving me a moment to think, the door opened to reveal Shawn. His curls were matted down and looked like they hadn’t been washed in days, his eyes had very noticeable bags underneath them, and all light looked like it was gone from his normally bright brown eyes.

“Hey, Niall,” Shawn said, running a hand through his hair. “What are you doing here?”

“I came to check on you,” I said. “It’s been weird not getting texts or calls from you saying something about the song.”

“Sorry about that,” Shawn said. “I would have called you but, I’ve been pretty sick lately and my doctor suggested that I take things easy for a week or so.”

“Awe man,” I said.

“Yeah. I’m just surprised that you came here,” Shawn said. “I feel so sick that I might as well have been quarantined.”

I laughed. “No offense but I don’t think you’d last a day in quarantine.”

“I don’t think so either,” Shawn laughed. “So, what brings you to my apartment anyway?”

"This is going to sound weird, but I missed you," I said.

"Awe, really?" Shawn asked.

"You're not weirded out by that?" I asked.

"Nah," Shawn said. "Do you want to come inside?"

"Uh, yeah, thanks," I said, walking into Shawn's apartment.

Surprisingly, the apartment looked a lot cleaner than last time I'd seen it.

"You like it?" Shawn asked, noticing that I was looking around his apartment.

"Yeah, do you clean when you're bored?" I asked.

"Well, it doesn't help when I live alone and don't have anyone to keep me busy," Shawn said.

"Well, I'm here now," I said, looking at him. "What do you want to do?"
