Niall's POV

After we had eaten, Shawn and I had a fun time at the beach. However, once it was time to leave the beach, Shawn got into the passenger seat looking exhausted.

"Did you have a fun time?" I asked, putting the beach bag in the backseat.

"Yeah, but now I feel really tired," Shawn said, buckling up before resting his head on the back of the seat.

"Alright, I'll let you rest," I said, getting into the driver's seat. "But did you at least put a towel on the seat before you sat down?"

"Nope," Shawn said.

"But, my seat," I said, pretending to pout.

"It'll be fine and if it's not, I'll replace it," Shawn said, sounding tired.

"You don't have to replace it," I said before leaning over the armrest and kissing Shawn's forehead. "Now, get some sleep."

Shawn only nodded as I started the car before I drove out of the parking lot and down the road.

I was almost back to the house when I stopped at a red light. Shawn slightly moved in the seat next to me but stayed sleeping. I smiled at him before I noticed that the light turned green. I pressed the gas pedal and was halfway through the intersection when I saw a car coming straight towards me. Hoping to not get hit, I pressed the pedal further down to avoid the collision. It failed as the car hit the back half of mine and sent us spinning.

"What's going on?" Shawn asked, making me realize that he was awake.

I turned the steering wheel to regain control of the car. "Some dumba** hit us."

"Are they okay?" Shawn asked.

"I don't know," I said, wondering why Shawn would be worried about the other driver.

"Can we go check?" Shawn asked.

I looked in the rearview mirror to see where the car had landed only to see it tailgating Shawn and I.

"Um... I think they're okay," I said, pressing the gas pedal down further.

"What do you mean, we didn't even check," Shawn asked, sounding angry and scared at the same time.

"They're right behind us," I said as we came to a red light.

The light didn't stay red for long because almost as soon as I stopped the car, it turned green. I slammed my foot onto the gas, not caring that I was going over the speed limit. We were almost to the house when the car slammed into the back of ours forcing me and Shawn to lurch forward in our seats. I lost control of the car for a second and, in that second, the car ended up hitting a light post.

Black dots were coming in and out of my vision as I heard Shawn start to freak out and panic. Hearing how panicked Shawn was, I decided that I had to try and stay strong.

"Are you okay?" I asked, feeling a pounding in my head.

"I should be asking you that question," Shawn said, still sounding scared. "You've got a gash in your forehead and you're losing a lot of blood."

"I'll be fine," I said, trying to stay calm for Shawn.

"I'm calling the ambulance," Shawn said, pulling out his phone.

I nodded as the black dots started to take over my vision. My body felt limp and my head had a hard time staying up. Soon enough, I let my head drop and the last thing I heard before I passed out was Shawn calling my name.
