The scent of weed was thick in the air as Changbin opened the door to his apartment. It was the early hours of the morning, no later than 5 am. He wobbled to the side and almost fell but caught hold of the coat stand to steady him. The alcohol in his system had made him unbalanced. He heard someone laugh as he closed the door and spun around to see his brother sitting on the living room sofa, a blunt in his hand and a girl attached to his side. Changbin scrunched up his nose as she attached her lips to his neck.
"Where's mum?" Changbin asked his brother, Minhyuk, now standing in the centre of the tiny living-room. The girl at his side continued to suck on his neck and Changbin tried to focus his eyes elsewhere, but there wasn't much to look at in their small apartment. The walls were plain, the carpet was greying and the TV was switched off.
"I dunno, probably passed out in the bathroom or some shit," Minhyuk mumbled so incoherently that if Changbin hadn't seen him in his stoned state so many times before, he wouldn't have been able to figure out what he said.
"You're a fucking state," Changbin mumbled, starting to stalk towards his bedroom, shaking his head.
"At least I'm not dead weight."
Changbin stopped to scoff, "yeah, I'm the dead weight when you're the one stoned off your ass with some girl you don't even know sprawled across you!"
Minhyuk pushed the girl away from him with a lot more force than Changbin thought was necessary. She yelped at the action but Minhyuk didn't care. "I've got a job though, something you can't keep for longer than two weeks," and then he started to mock words that Changbin had never said before, in a high pitch tone to emphasise how pathetic he thought his brother was, '"I don't need a job because I'm going to make it as a professional rapper!' Fucking bullshit."
"You know what, fuck you," Changbin flipped him his middle finger. The girl beside his brother threw her head back and started to laugh at them, so he flipped her off too but that only set Minhyuk off. Changbin didn't think it was flipping off the girl that made him mad though, he just needed an excuse to pick a fight.
"Hey, don't do that to her!" He shot up from his seat and started to walk towards Changbin. Changbin crossed his arms over his chest and tried to reach his brother's eye level, but he was much smaller than him. Minhyuk was pushing 6ft while Changbin was merely 5ft6.
"As if you care what I do to her. You probably picked her up on a street corner and paid her twenty pounds to sleep with you!"
"Fuck you!" Minhyuk shouted, shoving Changbin against the wall. His back smashed against it with a loud thump but Changbin hid his pain behind a scowl. He clenched his fist and raised it, slamming it against Minhyuk's face, deciding to fight back before he didn't have a chance. Minhyuk went stumbling backwards and the girl on the couch let out a shriek. Minhyuk was enraged now, his fists shaking at his sides as he came at Changbin again, but the latter dodged to the side and narrowly avoided a hit to his face. A broken nose and a split lip would certainly make him look more mysterious, but it wasn't the look he was currently going for. Minhyuk fell forwards against the wall that Changbin was previously pushed against. The sight made Changbin laugh so much he was caught off guard when Minhyuk dealt a blow to his stomach.
"What the hell are you doing!?" A woman shrieked from down the hall. As he tried to avoid Minhyuk's attempted hits, he could see his mother standing outside of her door, staring at her sons with annoyance.
"He hit me!" Minhyuk started to yell, "he fucking bust my nose, the fucking dickhead!"
Changbin smirked. His brother was more stoned than he was drunk and his attempts to hurt Changbin were getting poorer and poorer as the seconds passed. Behind his brother, he saw his mother leave the hallway and enter their kitchen that was connected to the living-room. She found a bottle of vodka in the top cupboard, stuffed it under her arm and made her way back to her bedroom. Changbin figure he wouldn't be seeing her sober for a while.
