OLIVIA'S POV
Carter came over to us with a sour look on his face. Tears were in his eyes, I knew what had happened. "Shawn, we have to go." He looked confused. "I found your truck-" he stops him. "Oh, it's not mine. It's Alyssa's. She has the keys." Carter looks at his feet and turns away. What just happened?
CARTER'S POV
You have got to be kidding me! So now I have to go loot my girlfriends body, really? I walk towards the last place I seen her. I just can't believe she's dead. I climb into the semi back and walk towards her lifeless body. She has a metal collar and leash on her neck. A man is standing next to the semi. "What the hell is this? Why is she chained up like a dog?" He smirks. "So she don't bite nobody. You need sometin boy?" I flip him off then crouch beside her. I see the key outlined in her front pocket. I reach down to grab it but I see her lips move. I roll her over and she springs up. Gasping and hissing. Reaching to capture her next meal. A tear slips down my cheek. I bend down just out of her reach. "I'm sorry. I love you so much." I was crying now. I sit down and look at her. She's not her anymore tho. She's forgotten all about me. I know what has to be done, I can't let them use her as a watch dog. I move a little closer and move fast. I grab her head, and take the knife I had in my pocket. I looked away. When she stopped struggling, I looked at her, still holding her head. She looks at me with her beautiful grey eyes. The same gentle eyes I could stare into all day. She looks back at me, really looks at me. She smiles and says, "I love you." Then closes her eyes, still smiling. I lay her head down gently on the floor. I reached into her pocket and pulled out a blue and black key. I stroke her hair and kiss her forehead. I walk to the rude ass man. "Where's the key to the collar." he looked at me all confused. "I dunno? Um, dare might be uh, maybe a latch on da collar maybe?" Wow, just wow. I go back and look. There is a latch so I unhook it and pick her up. There's a meadow by the tents, I think she'd like it there.
After a personal funeral, I go find Shawn. "I got the key, let's go." He looked confused. "Where's Alyssa?" I stare at him for a while before saying, "She was killed. I buried her in the meadow." Shawn looked horrified, I think I even saw him get misty eyed. "Oh, I'll go tell Olivia were leaving." I nod. After a while he comes back. I hand him the key and get in shotgun. John runs up to the car to say goodbye. "You sure you guys will be fine without us?" He nods. "We'll be okay. You sure you guys don't wanna stay?" I shake my head. "No, we're gonna go find what's left of the world. Tell Olivia I said bye." "Will do." And with that we drove off. I don't know where to.
