She stayed silent as she gave a harsh look at the back of the detective's head. She tried her very best to hide the fact that she was surprised, since now was not the right time.

She sighed as she rubbed the bridge of her nose, feeling her eyes start to get puffy and have a pricking feeling to them, "I don't have the time to hear you shit talking me, Dazai."

The other man stayed quiet, as he just looked at the ground that had small white flowers growing from it. Taiyo started to get irked when he didn't answer and when he didn't move an inch.

"If you're not visiting anyone, please leave me alo—"

"Why do you think we die, Taiyo?" He cut her off, making her shook. Not only did he cut her polite saying of him to leave, he asked her such an inane question.

"W-What?"

"Why do we die?" Again, Dazai didn't move an inch. Just sitting there waiting for his superior's answer. She wondered what was going on inside his head right now. Maybe something disastrous? Or messy? She didn't know.

Taiyo thought of something quick; for her to remain in the conversation. "No one knows Dazai."

Another silence engulfed them once again, making Taiyo put her weight on her foot. "Then why are we so drawn to it?"

She stayed quiet, listening to her subordinate with undivided attention. She was actually curious as to what he will say to her at this kind of setting.

Dazai lowered his eyes to a white flower on the ground, picking it up whilst looking at it with a swirl in his eyes, "Death is overrated, yet we still get so close to it. It is endlessly consumed in cities and literature."

Taiyo tilted her head, "What are you trying to say?"

"We all die, you've got to accept that. It is an event in one's life none may reverse. The people who cry over a loved one dying are milksops. If you really did love them, you must know that there is nothing in this shitty world that can make them feel more relaxed than death."

Taiyo didn't know what to say. The fact that Dazai, a man who seemed to deeply despises her, was comforting her; in a way? Although he didn't say things like, 'cheer up, you'll get better soon' the way he delivered his sentence just added to the list of  things Taiyo liked about him.

"I may not like you much, but you have to stand your ground. Wallowing in self-despair is something I despise very much. Self-despair is nothing but a nuisance to the mind." He said as he plucked the petals off the white flower, sooner leaving it petal-less.

Silence seemed to really like the two detectives, since it has joined them once again. She couldn't say a word, and he didn't say anything more.

Comforting someone shouldn't be a soft pat on the back, it should be a strong and harsh one. For it makes the person you're comforting stand up, and move on.

Hours after their little 'cheering up' segment, Taiyo now layed on her bed, looking through some articles on social media. She was bored, yet her little interaction with Dazai couldn't be left off her mind.

She seems to be remember every little interaction they have, and she couldn't put a finger on why.

She sighed, "Good thing the weekend's tomorrow."

Taiyo didn't mind what time it was, but all she could focus on was all the thick makeup and exposed body parts teens show nowadays on Yokogram. She grimaced, "How do their parents even allow this? When I was 16 I was helping my mother with the yard sale!"

She decided to watch Youtube instead.

Dazai walked into his apartment all calm and collected. He went back to the interaction he had with Taiyo and he couldn't help but cringe. 'Milksops?! I could've said cowards yet I said milksops?? Jeez, Dazai. Get a grip on yourself.'

The suicidal detective fumbled in his pocket to look for the keys to his warm apartment. Winter time was just around the corner, and the minute you reach nigh time, it felt like you were on the South Pole.

"Aha!" He quickly inserted the keys inside the keyhole, shuffling inside with a fake shiver, "So cold these days!"

He turned on the heater with his tongue stick out. The heater bumbled into life, making a loud groan echo throughout the small apartment.

Dazai raised his hands up in the air and stretched with a groan. "So tired..." Scratching the back of his neck, he felt something prick him.

At first he thought that it was just an ant or a nasty fly, but when he reached for the pricked area, he felt a long stick connected to a feather at the end.

His eyes widened, "Shit."

His eyes started to get heavy, making him lose balance and fall to the floor.

But not before he saw a blur of yellow tied up in a bun, the bangs falling on his soft and smooth face.

"I'm sorry, Dazai-san. I will have to get some strands of your DNA."
