Nova
This place was huge. But bare. It made me miss my future home even more. There was enough room for us but it didn't feel like a home. There were beds but no blankets or pillows. One small couch but no chairs or anything aside from the dinner table that seated twelve. One chair short. The kids can take turns sitting on a lap until we can get another one.
This place was barely furnished at all. That meant more shit we had to get before we could finally settle in here. We had electricity and water so that was nice. I could go for a nice, long, hot shower. We needed to eat too and we had next to nothing in that department as well.
"I'm hungry Mommy." Shasta said as she followed me up the stairs with Booker right behind us.
"I'll make dinner soon okay?"
She nodded as I peeked into the rooms on the top floor too. At the end of the hall there were two doors leading to the master bedroom I'm assuming. And when I opened it I knew I could definitely live here for a while. It was huge. It had its own bathroom and even had a balcony.
A fucking balcony.
Yep. I'm calling dibs.
I flopped down onto the bare mattress and sighed in relief, smiling as Booker laid down next to me and closed his eyes too. I think we both missed having a bed.
"Nova where are you? We need you!"
I groaned, trying to pretend like I didn't just hear that. I didn't want to move yet.
"Come on Nova! We know you hear us!"
I groaned again and pushed myself up, standing and scooping up Shasta into my arms before going back downstairs. Booker let out a huff too before following me. Everyone was arguing about which room they wanted when I approached.
Of course they have to be annoying about this.
Why did I save them all again?
"Shut up. There's enough rooms here for all of us to split. Finn our room is the master at the end of the hall on the top floor. Finch and Tommy you're the door to the right. Girls yours is on the left. Amy and Ashton you're on this floor at the end of the hall. Walowski to the right and boys to the left. There. Now shut up and go get situated you whiny brats."
Ashton saluted me as the rest rolled their eyes before leaving. I did stop Finn though.
"I still have to get my stuff from the boat and we're going to need blankets and everything too. And food. At least enough to last us until tomorrow. So we need to find Nixon and see how he can help us. I know we're both exhausted but if we do this quick we can come back and sleep in an actual bed. I'm exhausted."
I really wanted to sleep now. But everyone was hungry and I'll admit I am too. So I guess relaxing will have to wait.
"It's alright Killer. We'll be quick." Finn said as he pulled me into his arms and kissed the top of my head.
"Wait where are you going? I wanna come!" Shasta whined, pulling on my hand.
"You have to stay here Little One-No! I wanna go!" She interjected, dropping to the ground as she screamed and threw a fit.
She's not getting shit with that kind of behavior. I was about to tell her that's not how we do things when Finn dropped down to her level and made her look at him.
"Not this time okay? Next time you can come with us. This is something Mommy and Daddy have to do alone. But you can come with us next time okay?"
Shasta stopped crying and nodded at Finn. "Okay Daddy. I guess." She said as she sighed and got up.
