For the next week everyone was being taught sign and Gryffin was working on settling in. I was training Chaska early in the morning and at night once the kids were asleep. I've been pushing him harder but he's getting stronger. I think he's finally ready. And he needs to be ready because today is the fight. We have to win. I know we will too.
I made everyone breakfast and my little family sat at the island, eating and talking away. Gryffin was finally starting to open up more but he was still a little antisocial and shy. But we're working on that. I had the kids go outside to play while I got ready.
I know Gryffin is going to be upset that I'm leaving but I don't want him to see the fight. I don't want him to be afraid of me or Chaska if he sees us fighting. I have a feeling some shit is going to go down today and I'm always right when I feel it. So I want Gryffin safe.
"Are you ready Killer? You think he's going to win?"
I nodded as I clipped my holsters into place and tucked my guns in. "I know he will. I'll record it for you."
He nodded and kissed my cheek as I finished getting ready and went back downstairs. Gryffin didn't fight me as hard as he usually does when I have to leave but you could tell he was still uneasy.
I'm not going forever. Never ever leaving you. I won't be gone long okay? I'll make mac n cheese tonight for dinner to make up for it?
He nodded his head and smiled, hugging my legs tight.
If you need something talk to auntie Finch. I promise I'll be back soon.
He stepped back and sulked away as I sighed and headed for the door. Booker ran to my side and sped out of the door before I could stop him. Well I guess he's coming with me. I drove to Chaska's and I could see just how nervous he was as he climbed into the passenger seat.
"Don't be nervous. You got this Chaska. You're gonna kick Justin's ass and we'll get drunk in victory!"
Chaska smiled slightly as he looked out of the window. "I have never been drunk before but okay. If I win I will drink with you."
I forgot how innocent Chaska is. I wonder what he's like when he's drunk.
When we finally made it to The Center and went inside, Nixon and the other Resistants were already waiting. Justin was standing in the ring and glared at us as we approached. I really wish it was me fighting this dude. I hate him more than I hate Ashton and I hate Ashton a lot.
"You ready?" Nixon asked us with a reassuring smile on his face.
"We're ready."
Chaska and Justin stood in front of each other in the ring. Chaska looked nervous and Justin looked confident. As long as Chaska fights like I've shown him he'll take Justin down easy.
"This is a clean fight. No dirty tricks. First one to pin their opponent for ten seconds wins. Three rounds max so make them count." Nixon explained as the guys nodded.
"You got this Chaska. Remember what I've taught you!" I called out from the sidelines. He looked at me and I gave him an encouraging smile. He slightly relaxed and grew more determined as he looked at Justin again. Chaska is going to win. I know it.
"Alright boys! Fight!" Nixon said as he stepped back and out of the ring.
Justin immediately started swinging at Chaska as he backed him further and further away. Chaska blocked him easy and then shoved Justin back and got him good with a right hook.
