I rushed inside The Center and looked around for my kids. Shasta was on the swings where I expected her to be and my sweet boy was still reading his book in the corner alone. I did feel bad that I've been giving the boy more attention than Shasta. When we went on the rides with the kids I did go on a few with Shasta but for the most part I was with the boy.
But I couldn't help it.
Shasta always gets my love and attention. He doesn't get any. I know I will love them both equally but I should start with my daughter first.
Shasta was swinging with her back to me so I approached her from behind and plucked her from the swing while she was in the air. She squealed and started giggling as I kissed all over her cute little face.
"Hi Mommy!"
I set her down on her feet and kissed the top of her head as she hugged my legs.
"Did you have fun Little One?" I asked as I took her hand and began leading her towards my sweet boy.
Saying the boy was starting to bother me. I didn't like that he didn't have a name but calling him "the boy" just didn't feel right. I'm going to have to look through some books for the perfect name for him. One that he'll love and accept too. But for now he's going to be my sweet boy. My boy. Like a nickname until he has a real one. My Little One and my Sweet Boy. Sounded perfect to me.
"Wait I wanna go say hi to Daddy!" Shasta said as she pulled on my hand.
I let her go and approached my sweet boy, checking on Shasta to make sure she made it to Finn safely and saw her look up at Chaska and ask if he was a superhero too. I smiled and looked back at him, waving my hands around until he noticed and looked up at me. He gasped and tossed the book aside, keeping his dragon in his other hand before rushing my way and tackled my legs in a tight hug.
You came back! He signed excitedly, hugging my legs again.
I tilted his head so he would look up at me and smiled. Of course I did. I made a promise. And I don't ever break my promises. Never ever.
He smiled even bigger and hugged my legs again as Chaska, Finn, and Shasta, made their way over to us.
Never ever. He signed back.
Chaska squatted down to his level and asked what his name was. My boy hid behind me and made me turn to look at him.
What did he say? He asked, glancing at Chaska nervously before looking back up at me.
He asked what your name was. I told him as he frowned and shook his head.
"Shasta why don't you go play with the kids and we'll get you when we're ready to go okay?"
Shasta didn't even argue and just took off back towards the swings. She really did love them. Maybe I can find a little play thing to put in the backyard for her. And maybe even my sweet boy just in case he decides he does like them once he's more comfortable.
I needed to get stuff for all of the kids at the orphanage too. I'd have to make Finn take a trip into the city with me sometime this week. After the trial period with the boy though. I'm hoping the trial period will end up being permanent. I really hope it does.
"He's deaf. And not really into meeting new people quite yet. He was adopted and brought back three times Chaska. Each family and even Nixon all gave him a name and he didn't respond to any of them. Technically his name is Caleb but he doesn't like it. But anyways yeah. Unless you know sign language I'll have to be your translator."
