Nova
"Hey Killer. Wake up." I heard Finn say. I opened my eyes and smiled as he looked down at me.
"Hi."
"You fell asleep. The kids want you to play with them."
I looked over to where he was pointing and both kids were standing there and smiling. I looked around and realized we were in our secret place. When did we move back home?
"Come on Mommy! Gryffin won't get in without you!" Shasta whined, pointing to the water. My eyes looked at the boy as he signed for me to hurry up and paused-did she just call him Gryffin?
"Gryffin?" I asked confusedly, looking at the boy again.
What Mommy? He signed to me, just as confused as I was.
"Since when is he Gryffin?" I asked as I looked back up at Finn.
"Since you named him that?" Finn replied weirdly. He was confused too.
I named him Gryffin?
I looked at him as things clicked into place. The dirty blonde hair, the pretty blue eyes. The bright smile and sweet personality. Oh my god. I thought Shasta was the baby I lost but when I found out I was pregnant I knew immediately it was going to be a boy. Shasta was definitely fate too because I did want a daughter, but it makes sense now.
Why I loved him immediately. Why I fought so hard for him knowing he needed to be mine. He was the baby I had lost. He was destined to be Gryffin. That's why he didn't have a name-I was supposed to give him one. I couldn't believe it. It made so much sense. He finally had a name.
I woke up startled and looked around. I was in our room with Finn fast asleep next to me. It all makes sense now. He doesn't have a name because I would be the one to give him one. He really was the baby I had lost. He was the son I would've had if I didn't lose my baby. He was my Gryffin.
"Finn." I said as I gave him a good shake.
"Nova. I'm sleeping." He grumbled, turning his back to me.
"No Finn. I had a dream. Wake up."
Finn sighed and gave me a grumpy look as he faced me. "What?"
"We're supposed to name him Gryffin. That's why he doesn't have a name. He's the baby I lost. He's my Gryffin."
Finn sat up on his elbow and watched me for a moment before slightly frowning. "I thought you were over Grayson?"
I smiled and shook my head. I don't know why he's so worried about Grayson still. It's not like he's coming back for me. And even if he did I wouldn't leave Finn. I will never leave Finn.
"No. Not like that. I'm over Grayson Finn we've discussed this. I told you I lost my baby. Even though Grayson is gone you agreed to naming two of our kids after what he wanted to name our kids. That's all it is. Just a name. But I think it suits him. The Fates showed me it has to be destiny. That's why he wouldn't let anyone name him. We are supposed to give him one. And it's Gryffin."
Finn yawned and flopped back down, waving me off and turned over in bed. "Then he will be Gryffin. Now leave me alone until we leave to do the official adoption."
Oh yes! That's today!
I looked at my iPod and it was barely six in the morning. The orphanage doors don't open until nine. I have three hours to kill until I bring him home. For good. And he finally has a name too.
