In this chapter, I'll be talking about a crucial matter that a lot of Wattpad users had encountered. Apparently, not all of us are aware and are taking this seriously, which is what this chapter is for.
Wattpad has the ability, or the right rather, to delete your account/story.
For instance, there is plagiarizing, promoting self-harm, hating on other users, etc. Wattpad doing this is actually good, because it keeps the community safer for its users (especially since majority of them are adolescents).
But on the other hand,
Our every move is being monitored (I'm exaggerating, maybe) which is why we should ALWAYS be prepared. And be careful. One small mistake could cause you all your works.
#1: ALWAYS HAVE A BACKUP
Don't just save your works here in Wattpad. I'm not saying that their system is not reliable, but we should always take precautions just in case. Personally, I save mine in both Google Docs and Microsoft Word. Trust me and do this if you haven't already, you won't regret it.
#2 IF YOU CAN, MAKE A SOCIAL MEDIA ACCOUNT (AND LET YOUR READERS KNOW!)
That way, if ever the unspeakable happens, you can contact your readers there and let them know what happened. Getting your account deleted is very hard and stressful. I haven't experienced it yet, and I hope it'll remain that way.
--
If your account gets deleted, you can send a support ticket but believe me when I say it's not going to be easy.
So yeah, be careful.
Very careful.
