As you and Julian walked into the town you noticed how everything was decorated with bright colors and lights. You looked around and then unhooked your arm from Julian's and started to walk towards a shop. You looked at all the things the vendor was selling. Julian walked up behind you.
"I know this place is pretty cool during the masquerade. Isn't it?" He asked. You turned around and smiled at him.
"This is the best day ever!" You said while grabbing him and continuing running through town. Julian was following after you, smiling.
A few hours had passed and it was almost time for the masquerade to start in the palace. You two walked up to the palace gates.
"Are you ready for the best night of your life?" Julian asked. You nodded.
"As ready as I could be." You said. Without thinking Julian reached down and intertwined your fingers. A small smile appeared on your face when he did that. You two walked into the palace and went straight to the ball room. The music started to play and you stood ther kind of awkwardly. Julian nudged you on the shoulder.
"You know we could dance." Julian said. You looked at him.
"Really?" You asked. He smiled at you.
"Of course." He grabbed your hand and pulled you onto the dance floor. The song was fast paced and you two were dancing, but then the song stopped and another started. This song was a slow song. You looked up at Julian and he put his hand on your waist and grabbed your other hand with his, pulling you closer to him.
"Uh." You said when he did this.
"Don't worry, we're just dancing." Julian said. You grabbed his hand and you two started dancing. You rested your head on his shoulder and he laid his head on top of yours. You two stayed like this for a while. The music stopped and then started to pick up again.
"Can we go somewhere a little more quiet." He nodded and grabbed your hand to take you out to the court yard. When you got out there you sat down on the edge of the fountain, and Julian sat next to you.
"I have something for you. And I should have given it to you a long time ago." You say as you pulled out the journal Julian had when he broke into your shop.
"I was just scared, the thing is, I'm not scared anymore. You know what I mean." You say as you hand him the book. He pushes it down and out of sight.
"I'm starting to." He started to lean in to you and you did the same, that is until Julian stopped. You looked at him confused.
"Um, give me a second." Julian stood up and started to walk towards the the ball room. You turned around and looked that way. You saw two people standing in the door way, they looked vaguely familiar. You sat there for a minute waiting.

"There you guys are, see I just wanted to clear some stuff up. I'm not mad at you guys and so let's just let bygones be bygones." Julian said as he smiled.
"You're holding out on us Julian." Valdemar said.
"Umm what?" Julian asked.
"We heard you've found someone, someone very valuable to us." Julian looked concerned but then realized, and took a few steps back.
"I don't understand. What could she possibly mean to you." Julian asked.
