CALIFORNIA'S POV

I started at my reflection in the long bathroom mirror. They must have found it on a run, because a normal prison would have nothing like this.
I was still wearing the clothes I had on all day. I had a black Foo Fighters crop top on. My ripped skinny blue jeans were tucked into my black leather combat boots. I undid my honey blonde hair from a messy bun and it fell into it's natural beach curls.
There was a knock on the door.
"Coming," I called. I quickly slipped into a gray sweater and a pair of black jeans.

A woman with short gray hair was at the door. She smiled.
"You must be California." She said.
"Yes ma'am." I said.
"We think it's time you've met the family."

Everyone was gathered in the "living room" as they called it, although it was just another empty prison room.
Carl appeared at my side.
"Hey," I look up at him.
He blushed and looked away.
Rick stepped forward and began to introduce me to everyone.
He pointed to a blonde girl that looked slightly older than me.
"This is Beth." Beth smiled and said hello.
"And I'm her sister, Maggie." An older girl stepped up boldly and put her arm on Beth's back. I grew sad. I no longer had a sister.
Mr. Grimes pointed to the woman that greeted me at the bathroom door. "Carol." She nodded at me.
Carl pointed to a man with a crossbow next to him. The man had a cold and worn face, but he seemed kind. He smiled. "I'm Daryl." He said roughly.
An old man hobbled in on a pair of crutches. He was the same one legged man who tended to my twisted ankle. It felt brand new already.
"Hello Hershal." I said.
"Hello, young lady." He said through his beard.
A Korean man walked over to me and shook my hand.
"Glenn."
Then he walked over to Maggie and wrapped her in his arms. She smiled up at him lovingly, causing me to feel a sudden mood of loneliness. It's hard to find love when the world is ending.
I woman walked out of the shadows and I jumped. How long had she been there?
"I'm Michonne," her face expressionless. A sword was strapped across her back and she crossed her arms. I could tell she was tough.

Suddenly, a baby's cry echoed through the room.
"Oh! Judith!" Carl said as his face lit up. He momentarily left the room and came back with a baby wrapped in a blanket in his arms.
"This is my baby sister," He said.
"Oh." I sighed. "She's beautiful." I lightly brushed her cheek with my knuckle and she let out a happy squeal.
"She likes you," Carl glanced up at me. His gaze returned to the baby. His expression was so kind and loving towards her.
Rick coughed.
I jumped, forgetting that there were still other people present.
"Well, that's it." Hershal said as he hobbled to the middle of the room. "There used to be more, but these are the survivors." He spread his arms, keeping the crutches underneath his shoulders.
"Welcome to the family."
