Once upon a time ........
There was a group of young men and women .....well they appeared to look young as they went around the world saving lost and abandoned children that were thrown to the streets and left to fend for themselves. But these children weren't your average boy or girl next door. If the police got to these particular children they would've been executed, put into a human zoo, or enslaved and exploited and their talents would've been used for all sorts of hard and unnecessary labor. These children had astonishing gifts that you'd only read about in stories.
But enough of the ominousness. Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Lourdes Darrow I'm one of The Rescued one of those mysterious children that could've been killed if someone else had discovered me that wasn't one of The Guardians. There are others that are like me and I happen to live with them. There are a total of 14 of us (as of right now) and we all have what society is calling witchcraft and sorcery. As if we were all given a choice to be different and chose this dangerous path.
Currently, I got stuck watching the youngest of the group Page. She's two years old and has already started to develop her power of breathing fire. Can you imagine my terror in having to watch this little dragon hybrid seeing how my powers can't prevent her from incinerating me
"Hey, Lou...How's the baby watching going?" Igna whispered so she wouldn't wake the little beast. Even if we were in the lobby
"I still don't understand how the elders think that watching the child that could kill me. Will help me to activate my "other" side."
"I know. Wouldn't it be better if someone was thrown out the window? And have to dive out after them considering how protective you can be."
Just as I was about to answer back I heard the baby beginning to move and I grabbed Igna and ran upstairs."She's woken up"
"What does this have to do with me? You're watching her!"She whispered and scanned the room making sure that she didn't escape.
The two of us walked into the room and walked to the crib and peered down at the giggling and scale-covered baby.
"Hi, Page! Did you have a good nap?" I cooed after seeing Page was in a good mood from her nap.
"Well if you don't need to be shielded from incineration I'm going to my room." Igna sighed and turned to leave but I ran over with Page in my arms and blocked her path.
"Move outta my way before I hurl you across the room."
"Like you'll be able to actually grab me before I run to the other side of the room." I said and picked her up and put her in a chair surrounded by saltwater before she realized what had happened.
"Why did you...When did you...." She then let out a high pitched screech and bared her teeth.
"Let me out you demon or I'll..."
"Or you'll what it's not like you can escape. You can't go anywhere near saltwater without screeching or your tail starting to grow."
Just then Page began to cry and when Page cries it wasn't something that any mortal or anyone who has an ability that didn't fend off fire wanted to be around. The little dragon hybrid didn't like the fact that her favorite person couldn't be with her.
"Siren or not I'm getting Page before you're tempted to bite her."
"Like I'd do that to this poor child. Besides, I already had breakfast she'd just be a little snack. But don't you think a fire-breathing vampire sounds cool!"
But I didn't bite her I just injected her with antifreeze and put her back in the crib."Are you going to let me out or will I have to lunge forward."
"Relax I wasn't going to do anything. I just injected her with some antifreeze" I put Page back in her back into her crib. "There now she won't incinerate anyone for a while."
