Chapter 2

I dusted off my hands and decided to let Igna out of her saltwater trap. As soon as she knew she was free she lunged at me and clawed at me but wasn't able to do any damage.

"If you're done playing with me. Can you get off ?"

"I'm not sure, you trapped me in a corner. I should rip you to pieces. I've always wondered what vampires taste like."

"Don't I already tried they taste awful"

"How do you know what a vampire tastes like," Ig said as she climbed off of me and allowed me to get up from the place she left me on the ground.

"That does not concern you!" Boomed the voice of our guardian Michael. Even though I've been in his care for a while. I still can't understand what he's saying half the time.

"Did the child trigger your other side in any way?"

"NO! IT DIDN'T WORK YOU OLD SACK OF DUST!!"

I was infuriated what a waste of time. I don't have time for this!

"The irony, in you calling him that!" I hissed at her.

"Lourdes no need to be apprehensive. We can try something different and maybe a few more trials. But until then you really need to control your temper before you.."

I cut him off "Kill, no slaughter someone as you put last time. When I ripped a tree to smithereens! You're words, not mine."

"No need to be disquieted miss Darrow" I ran my hands down my face trying to relax before I broke something again.

"Вы успокоитесь в Лурде!Я чувствую, что ваше сердце ускоряется."

"English Iggy, I still don't understand Russian"

"I said will you calm down Lourdes! I felt your heart speed up."

My nails grew. Breathe, Lourdes breathe ignore the fact that you want to bite into her neck.

"I'm going for a walk. Don't follow me Ig or I'll throw some salt on you."

I ran out of the door and saw my favorite person. In his usual place in a really high tree.

"Hoshi! What are you doing in that tree kid!" I called up to the small child.

"I don't know ...just...instinct ...I guess."

"Why did you choose such a tall tree to climb?" I panted as I finally reached the boy. (I could've just flown up!)

"I'm sorry.....I...just...wanted to climb."

"No need to apologize for kid.I'm just saying."

A moment of silence passed through us.

"Did you find her?"

"Nothing yet. I sense her though her scent is driving me crazy ...It's like she's right next to me and yet she's nowhere to be seen at the same time"

I looked around at the view we had from this tree.

"Wow look at the frazzles"

"W- Fr- What are frazzles?"

"They're these really cool looking ice crystals that appear on top of turbulent waters when they freeze over. Take a look over here"

Just as we were looking at the frozen-over lake. I saw something run across the surface.

"Was that..."

He trailed off. We both lurched from the tree and settled on the ground. I see the creature run past us. This time both of us are in full pursuit.

"You go right I'll go left"
