Tales! What are tales? Myths? Legends? Folklore? Stories that are spread around like rumors past down from generation to generation? I didn't believe in tales. Fake monsters and ghouls haunting people! Please what nonsense! My name is Stella. Short figure with short blonde hair. I am a geeky girl with huge framed glasses. "This is my story!" I never believed in any monster. Not until the night i stumbled into a cave. A monsters cave. I was lost in the wilderness. A nature hike with my class. I got separated an hour ago. Wandering the unknown forest by myself. The sun was setting. It bacame really chilly. I walked for a while more. Through trees and over logs. I came upon a snake. It hissed. I slowly crept around it. I was scared. Shivering and creeping along in the giant forest alone. I pulled my water bottle out of my backpack. I took a few sips then slid it back inside. I ate some cookies grabbed my flashlight then wrapped my backpack back around my shoulders and carried on. It started to rain. I saw a rock wall up ahead. A rock cave. Somewhere to sleep until the morning. I slowly walked inside.  It was quiet. I didnt know what I'd find inside the cave but it was cover from the night rain. It was creepy inside the cave. I continued on in. "The cave is bigger than my house!" I mumbled. I heard a noise. Flapping wings. BATS! They swooped down. Crazy bats attacking me! I ran deeper into the cave. The bats flew out of the cave. It grew silent again. I trudged though mud and rocks. I heard a grunting sound. I gazed around the cave.  My flashlight spotted something. A huge monster! "Ahhh!" I screamed! He was bent over eating something. My flashlight shaking in my hand. I was trembling from fear. I was frozen still. He was gnawing on a leg!  A human leg! The chewing and slurping filled my brain. Echoing in my mind. I took off like the bats. I tripped over a rock. I smacked my head. I was out like a light. I woke up. My head throbbing. "Where am i? What's going on?" I asked looking around in a well lit room. I was dizzy. I was tied to a chair. "Don't be frightened my child." A voice called. "Who's there?" I announced shivering. The monster stepped out into the light. It was a hideous monster. Half human half grizzly like. "Please don't eat me!" I whimpered. "I haven't thought of that..Yet." He replied grunting. The monster has a deep voice. Like a growling lion. "I can't let you leave here. NEVER!" He groaned. "You know my hiding place. If I'm found they will destroy me!" He unleashed a roar! "I can't control myself. I am after all a MONSTER!" He said leaning into my face. "How? Why are you hiding?" I asked staring at his human face. "I ran away from civilization. I ran from my creators. I was a test subject for a new  creation. They were making a human that could live forever. No diseases or viruses. Imagine a person that couldn't get sick! It would change this world completely. But they failed as you can see. I became a monster! Changing everyday. More and more monster." He said as tears assembled down his hideous face. "So you have just been hiding out here?" I asked as the monster turned away. Yes! I can't let them study on me any longer. The needles and tubes hurt! I'm finished with the studies and tests." He cried. "What's your name?" I asked smiling at him. "Lance. Lance Henderson." He replied. "I'm Stella. Stella Garder. It was now morning. The sun shining orange into the cave entrance. I heard some shouts in the distance. Roaring and groaning. "Oh no Lance!" I yelled running out of the cave. Two men in blue uniforms holding prods shouting and threatening Lance leading him to a huge cage in the back of a pickup truck. "Stop!" I shouted. They both turned and were shocked. Lance went berserk. He shook the prod out of one guys hand. He ripped the guys arm off. Blood squirting from the hole in his arm. Shaking himself free. He picked up the other guy and threw him into a boulder. His bones cracked as his back hit the rock splitting him in half. His ribcage was exposed. "No don't Lance!" I yelled. He was angry. "I can't help it i'm a monster." Lance replied walking to the corpses. "Oh i can't watch" i told myself looking away. I heard him munching on there corpses. Feeding himself. He came towards me grunting. He belched really loud. His burped echoed through the forest. "I'm really sorry you had to see that Stella, it's not me. It is the monster inside me." He mumbled. "I really need to get home now my parents are probably worried sick." I mentioned putting my backpack on. "I can't let you leave now that you know about me Stella I'm sorry!" Lance threatened. "I won't tell anyone i swear." I replied shaking. He grabbed me and drug me to the cage in the back of the pickup. "Please help me someone!" I yelled. "No one can hear you darling save your breath." Lance moaned. He locked me inside the cage. "You can't do this Lance! I know you're not really a monster inside you're just angry from how they treated you!" I cried. "Hush Stella" he said. Then i heard a yelp. I saw Lance grab his side. He screeched in pain. The prod stuck through his body. One of the guys in a blue uniform shoved the prod in Lance. "The guy with the missing arm! He's still alive." I muttered. Lance fell to the ground. The monster was dead. "Oh thank goodness you're alive" i cried. He got on his walkie talkie and called for backup. "We have a girl to" he mentioned. "We will take her in" a guy replied on the other end of the walkie talkie. "Sorry miss but you are coming with us. We need another test subject" the man said hopping inside the pickup. The lock on the cage wasn't locked! "Lance forgot to lock it! I can escape." I thought. He drove by the park by my house. This is it i can bolt now! I opened the cage. I jumped out quickly. I landed on grass. The truck kept driving. He had no idea i escaped! "Oh boy that guy is getting fired" i told myself walking home. "Now that's a story!" My teacher announced as the class clapped. "Did that really happen Stella?" My friend Isabella asked. "Maybe! I don't know do you believe in mosters?" I replied smiling.
