When i first heard about moving into the swamp i thought it would be kind of cool. You know being away from noisy civilization, meeting new friends, getting away from all the stress and anxiety of a big city. If i only knew what i was in for. I never would have left Cincinnati. The howls at midnight. The sounds of animals being ripped apart. The stories of missing people. My teacher told me a story about a missing boy in this swamp. He was walking down a path. Slipped and fell right into the bog. It sucked him down like quicksand. Never to be seen again. Then there are the stories about the werewolf. They call him BEAST! They say Beast owns the swamp and the people living here are trespassing. He hunts them down for a midnight snack. That's when he supposedly comes out. It was a quiet night. I was sitting on the porch. Reading a book about myths and legends. A kid walked up the dirt driveway. "Hi, you just move in?" He asked. His black hair parted to one side. Super skinny frame wearing a black tanktop and grey faded jeans. "Yes last week" i replied closing my book. "I'm Sasha" i said shaking his hand. "Names Teddy, but most call me Ted. I live right over there" He pointed, then stuck his hands into his pockets. "Your style is neat" he mentioned eye balling me up and down. My shoulder lenght blonde hair. My bright blue T-shirt. Short denim skirt with blue leggings. Black Converse high tops. "Thanks" i replied shyly. We talked for a while, he told me about his crazy neighbor Mr. Cottner until my Dad called me inside. "See ya later" Teddy mumbled leaving. It was late. I lay in bed. Thunder crackled. Rain gushed down. I heard the howling again. I jolted out of bed. Ran to my window. I peeked out through the fog and flashes of lightning. I need to find out what that howling is. "What if it's a hurt animal or something i have to help it." I told myself slipping on a jacket. I slipped on my shoes and ran downstairs. I grabbed a big flashlight off the table. I continued on into the swamp. The thunder and lightning slowed. It was just steady rain. I slushed through the thick vines and mud. The howling got intense. "It seemed to come from that house" i whispered. I was soaked. But the water cooled me off as the swamp humidity was killing me. It felt nice. The house was more of a shack. Broken down and ugly. "It looks abandoned" i mentioned walking around the side. Then i saw something that made me shriek. Bones! Animal bones. Littered all over the yard. I continued to the back. A slider was left open. The animal howled. It echoed out the slider door. "I shouldn't enter i should just go home" i told myself. "Just turn and go home Sasha" i mumbled to myself. I peered into the house. It was dark. Candles were lit. Shadows danced around the walls from the flickering candles. "Hello? Are you okay?" I shouted. Silence. I walked into the kitchen. Empty. I went around the the living room. I crept to the hallway. "Hello?" I announced. I was halfway down the hall when i saw a creature staring back at me. I aimed the flashlight at it. And screamed. Its big grey hairy body took up the hall. The teeth opened in a growl. Drool draining to the floor. It tilted its head up. "Its a werewolf! It's Beast!" I shouted. I backed away and ran. I dropped the flashlight. I ran through the slider door. Looking behind me as it chased. Chasing after its fast meal. I ran to the closest house. I banged on the door. No one. I opened it anyways. I trudged inside. The big dog scrached and banged on the door. It busted the door down. I ran upstairs. Bad idea i thought. I ran into a bedroom and shoved a desk to block the door. i heard it groaning and moaning for its midnight snack. Me. It crashed through the door. I'm dead meat i thought. Fresh meat. It pummeled me. Bent over its dinner. Face to face. Drool covered my face. The teeth sticking out ready to rip flesh off bones. It snapped. lunging for my throat. I closed my eyes. I'm dead. I heard a whimper and a howl in pain. I opened my eyes. Teddy! Standing behind the werewolf! He saved me. Beast fell to his side bleeding. Oozing blood. The pitchfork sticking out of its back. "It's a werewolf! Beast He's real!" Teddy yelled. "Yeah Teddy it was your neighbor!" I said standing there looking at the dead werewolf. Beast the werewolf turned into a human. It was Mr. Cottner. "I told you Mr. Cottner was crazy" Teddy laughed.
