Zabdiel
With the performance ending late and security taking forever, everyone came straight to the airport. Surprisingly, the arena had really good showers.Since everyone was taking different flights, we all waited together, but left at different times. Except for Christopher. He's staying in Miami and having his family fly out, so he was already sleeping at home. Speaking of sleeping, Vanessa has been doing that for the past hour. She built a little bed on the floor out of her hoodie and blankets, so she's basically been at my feet the whole time because she didn't want to get in anyone's way.
"You think she'll sleep when she actually gets on the plane?"
I shrugged my shoulders and looked down at her, noticing that she looked comfortable. "Crees que el suelo es cómodo?"
"You've slept the tile floor by security, so probably." Joel commented tiredly. "Hey, ella es un versión femenina de ti. I thought Erick was joking."
Richard lifted his head up from his backpack and looked at Joel with his eyes barely open. "Bro, she did ballet, is from Puerto Rico, and is vegetarian. We all knew she was a female Zabdiel."
"Oh, so you left me out of it?"
The two of them drifted off into their own conversation and Vanessa started moving around. She slowly lifted her head up and looked at me with her eyes half opened. "Estamos en Puerto Rico?"
"No, aún estamos en el aeropuerto."
Vanessa did a little stretch, the got up to sit in the seat beside me with all her stuff. "How much longer?"
"No sé. We were supposed to leave an hour ago."
A sigh left her lips as her head dropped to my shoulder and she pulled the blanket over both of us. "Odio aeropuertos."
"Yo también, mami."
× × ×
The plane ride was only 3 hours, so when we landed in San Juan, it was about 7am. The two of us left the plane and went to get our baggage since neither of us saw anyone we knew.
"Tu pelo es un desastre." She mumbled. I couldn't see for myself, but I could feel my hair sticking in all different directions. I tilted my head down, and Vanessa started running her hands through it, doing her best to fix it.
"Who's picking you up?"
"Mi hermano, pero mi hermana se supone que está aquí." She explained. See, her sister's in the marines, so she was stationed somewhere else and it was a miracle she got to fly out. "Is your mom on her way?"
I nodded his head and we both waited for our bags to make their way to us. It was boring watching suitcases slowly glide by, and it didn't help that there was already a crowd of people waiting, meaning it would probably be a while before our luggage came around.
"Mariposa?" I felt Vanessa turned around, and she instantly broke away from me and ran to tackle a women in a hug. Or attempt to because the girl was much taller and buffer.
"Valeria, I missed you!" They hugged for a while and while they did, I noticed the similarities and differences between them. The first being the height difference; Valeria looked about as tall as Richard. They both had curly hair, but Valeria's was darker and a lot shorter, I'm guessing because of her job. "Oh, Val, this is Zabdiel. Zabdi, this is my older sister."
I stuck my hand out for her to shake and she smiled up at me. "Encantado."
"Igualmente. Están novios?"
Vanessa looked up at me, then turned back to her sister to shake her head. "Not yet. We're working on it." Valeria looked between us, then nodded her head and set her suitcase and bag down.
"Zabdiel!" At the sound of the familiar voice, I turned around with a smile and went to embrace my mother. "Ay, mi baby. Te extrañé mucho."
"Te extrañé también." We swayed with each other in the hug, but once we pulled away, I led her over to Vanessa and Valeria. "Mamá, esto es Vanessa y sus hermana, Valeria. Chicas, mi mamá."
"Esto es Vanessa? Mija, eres bonita como él dijo." My mom smiled widely at Vanessa, but I wasn't expecting her to say that, so my head shot down to her. Vanessa looked surprised, and Valeria was looking at the three of us, holding in a laugh.
"Ma!"
"Qué? Es la verdad." She waved me off and got closer to Vanessa. "Habla de ti todo el tiempo."
