Chapter 16

Jade has been locked in her room for a while now and she's accepted the fact that she wouldn't be let out. She cried to the point where she felt very light-headed and couldn't breathe. So she got up and opened the attic window. A strong wind blew in, causing the fire in the fireplace to die out. When Jade saw this, she noticed something shining from the fireplace. She walked over to it and knelt down to find what it was. Jade saw that the object was covered in ashes, so she cleaned it off to only see the rose that Ben gave to her the night before. It was still intact. "Ben was right, they are indestructible" Jade said smiling to herself.

Just then another strong wind came through the window and knocked over a box. Jade was startled by the big crash the box made when it hit the floor. She turned around to see that the objects that were inside the box were scattered all over the floor. Jade went over to the mess and cleaned it up. As she picked up each item, she studied them carefully. She first picked up a picture of her mother and father. Jade smiled at the picture, however she noticed something else. She saw the Jedi symbol on her father's shoulder pad and he was holding a blue lightsaber. Jade got the lightsaber from under the floor and saw that it was the same one from the picture.

She then picked up a brown robe, similar to the one that Master Yoda was wearing when he trained her. Lastly, Jade picked up a big envelope. She opened it and saw her birth certificate and her father's will. Jade first read the certificate and she was in a state of shock. She then read her father's will. She couldn't believe what she was reading. Jade looked at all the objects around her and tried to put the puzzle pieces together. She came to a realization that her father was a Jedi. "This all makes sense now. I was always meant to be a Jedi" Jade said to herself.

Meanwhile...

Han, Luke, and Poe travelled all over town looking for the mystery princess. Just about every maiden in town tried on the shoe; but it wasn't a success. Their feet were either too small or too big. "We're never going to find her. Just about every girl in town tried on the shoe and neither of them are her" Han said impatiently. "Maybe she doesn't want to be found" Poe said. "Ha ha. Very funny, Poe" Luke said sarcastically. "Don't give up on hope, guys. There's still one more house left, she could be there" Poe said trying to lift up their spirits.

Gwendoline and Christie heard a few orbaks in front of their house. So they looked out the window and saw the king had come. It was their turn to try on the shoe. They got so excited. Lady Hux welcomed in the King, the Commander, and the Jedi into the house and got started right way. Gwendoline was the first sister to try on the shoe. Poe slid the shoe on her foot and saw that her foot was too big. "It shrunk" Gwendoline told him. Christie chuckled. Gwendoline wanted to fit in the shoe, so she forced her foot to fit. She struggled for a few minutes, which made Poe struggle as well. "Oh enough" Christie said pushing her sister off the chair. It was Christie's turn to try on the shoe. Poe slid the shoe on her foot and saw once again that the shoe didn't fit, for it was too small to fit her foot. "It fits!!!" Christie said as she struggled. She eventually gave up.

"Our work is done here, Commander Dameron" said the King. As the three men left the house, everyone heard someone singing. They stopped to turn and see where it was coming. "Do you hear that, your highness" Poe asked. "Yeah I do" Han said. "So do I" Luke said. Hux proceeded to shut the door. "Madame, there is no other girl in your house" Poe asked Hux. "No" Hux answered. "Then has your BB unit learn how to sing" Poe asked again. BB-9E beeped. Lady Hux laughed. "It's been a long day, let's go home" Han started to say. "But she's lying, your highness" Poe said.

Just then someone walked up from behind Poe and took off the royal disguise. It was Ben Solo, the prince of Naboo. "Your highness" Ben said. "Your majesty" Hux said as she bowed. "What a beautiful singing voice and the song choice, my mother used to sing me that song when I was a kid. It makes me want to sing myself. Commander Dameron, would care to investigate" Ben said. "It would be my pleasure" Poe said as he walked back in the house.

Jade was singing when all of a sudden the door opened revealing her stepmother and Poe Dameron, the man she met outside her house last night. "There is she, I told you she was of no importance" Hux said. "I'll be that judge of that. Miss, you are required to present yourself to the King and the Prince" Poe told Jade. "I forbid you to do this" Hux told Jade. "And I forbid you to forbid her. Who do you think you are to stop the Commander of the King? You aren't royalty are you" Poe asked. "I'm her mother" Hux said.

"No she's not. She means nothing to me. She's the First Order spy that your looking for. She told me herself" Jade told Poe. Hux stepped toward Jade and pulled a gun to her head and said "You're a dirty little rat you know that and now I will make sure that you never see the light of day ever again." She was about to pull the trigger until Poe stepped in front of Jade and lowered Hux's gun. "That won't be necessary. You may think that she's a dirty little rat; but I think she's an absolutely beautiful human being" Poe said turning around to wink at Jade and she smiled back at him. "Come now, Miss" Poe continued to say and walked out of the room.

Jade collected the box full of items she found earlier and followed Poe. She was stopped when Hux took a hold of her arm. "Just remember who your dealing with" Hux angrily said. Jade ripped her arm out her stepmother's grasp and said, "Let me tell you who your dealing with. You say that your a First Order spy. Well news flash sweetheart, I'm a Jedi. If you provoke me, I will be more than happy to kill you right where you stand. So if I were you, stay out of my way" Jade said determinedly. She walked out the door to join Poe. He smiled at her because he was proud of what he saw. Jade smiled back as she shut the door behind her, leaving her stepmother in the room by herself.
