Chapter 2: Light in my Life

Hanji's POV

Weeks after that whole concert thing, Nanaba jumped into bed with me with a grin on her face. "Heya, Han." My eyes rolled a bit as I tried to turn away. "Listen! Listen to their new release of their song! Wanna hear what it's called?"

"No-"

"Light in my Life."

"Eh?" I struggled to look through a blurred state, but Nanaba turned up the volume on her phone, having it ring throughout my ears. "Nanaba!" I shouted, but then there was this soft melodic music playing. Completely different from last night. A few seconds into the video, and I hear this soft voice.

"Fallen... into a dark realm... there you were... standing there..."

Nanaba just had a grin, beginning to speak over the lyrics. "It's a love song written by the one and only Captain! Wow... I think this is a real love song, Hanji. I wonder if he's actually found someone to love... I wonder who it is!"

My eyes rolled a bit, "Nana, I'm sure you'll be heartbroken when you find out he's engaged already. But... wouldn't he put it out in public?"

She shook her head. If I could hear her heart pounding, I would need a lot of earmuffs to block that noise. "No, he wouldn't. That's why he has an alias as his singing side. No one knows what he really looks like."

Then from Nanaba's phone, something perked my interest from this particular lyric. It sounded... weird...

"I never expected to hear you those words... but either way, I fell for you... so trust me when I say this- trust me very well. I hope you can hear me loud and clear... I'll be searching... searching for a way to you. Trust me... for you are the light of my life... I never seen such a girl like you... so please trust me when I say.. I'll find the light of my life..."

After that, there was a lot of calm drumming and electric guitars. Not like that particular tone from the concert. Nanaba pushed me into the bed, staring at me widely. "Hanji... he's gonna reach out to her!"

"Eh? Are you sure that it's not just because of they needed to make the song more romantic? The song's called, 'Light in my Life,' so wouldn't you want to hear it romantically?"

"Yeah but... Captain never writes his songs to play with his fans' hearts. He really means this. He's quite literal in his diction for the songs... so I'm sure that this man is gonna find his love, marry her, and just kill every last of his dedicated female fans because of it. Gah... I can't believe this..."

My eyes rolled once more, "Well, it better not be me."

"That's right... Erwin's the love of your life. How long have you guys been going?"

I chuckled softly, thinking about his broad hands on my arms again. "Over 3 years. I'm hoping that he'll propose to me sometime this year. It'll be a wonderful gift..."

"Sheesh... and here I am with a crush on Miche still."

"You'll find someone... I promise you that."

We both got up and got ready for our work at the laboratory. Nanaba was the security guard while I was the scientist. It was perfect. We can work during the same hours, so we can get home together. Saves us a lot of money. While we walked out the door together, something caught my eye. A teddy bear gift that bared no name. It only hand a single rose attached to him- a real rose.

"Seems like lover boy gave you a gift."

"And I'll thank him for that tonight."

Levi's POV

"Well...?" My arms trembled as I talked to the private investigator. "Was it delivered?"

He nods his head, "Yeah. Usually, this isn't my job. Why does she matter so much to you?"

I looked away, thinking about that song I wrote for her. I made a promise, and I delivered it. "Well... let's say that I wanted to know who she is first of all... and I won't do anything illegal. I'll be honest that I used you to get to her. Of course, I won't disclose any names to her. Thanks though. As promised, I'll pay you extra for delivering that gift to her."

I handed him his extra $200 and went off to the largest window in the house. It overlooked the city of Rose, and I constantly would stay there for hours, thinking about that woman. Now I know her name.

"I've found you, Hanji Zoe..."
