MADISON WOKE UP IN THE middle of the night gasping for air as she had a terrible nightmare. she calmed her self down slowly getting up as she quietly made her way down the stairs for a glass of water. madison turned on the water from the kitchen sink letting it fill the glass before taking a sip. a sudden noise caused her to flinch as it was the storm. she looked outside her window seeing red clouds surrounding something or someone. madison rushed outside seeing the clouds and the gigantic shadow monster from before causing her to scream in fear.
"GO AWAY!" madison screamed as she shut her eyes tightly. "GO AWAY!" she repeated. two arms shook her from behind causing her to turn around noticing that everything disappeared. "w-what are you doing? get inside it's freezing." steve said telling her to get inside. she slowly entered the house still looking behind her to see any sign of what she saw.
"i-i.." madison stuttered. "what's wrong did you see something?" steve asked her anxiously. "I-it was nothing." madison stuttered. "i thought the raccoons were back." madison said letting out a small chuckle to make it seem more convincing. "they better not be back." steve said as he looked out the window. "anyways, why are you up so late?" steve asked her. "wanted some water. need to stay hydrated." madison said quickly. "yeah, okay." steve said as he patted her head. "well, goodnight. i have work tomorrow." steve yawned making his way out the kitchen going upstairs.
madison sighed in relief making her way to her room rushing to find a piece of paper and some sort of color crayon. she quickly scribbled all over drawing what she saw, looking at it scarcely. madison left it on the side of her desk slowly getting into bed knowing she couldn't sleep with that thought in her mind. her droopy tired eyes caused her to fall asleep peacefully.
the next morning miles snuck through her window, like usual. he sighed seeing madison still sleeping peacefully in bed smiling at how beautiful she looked. his smile went away seeing the piece of paper on her side desk. he grabbed it looking at it scarcely. it was the mind flayer. miles looked at her in shock and pure sadness that she didn't tell her about her recent nightmares or visions she's been having. miles quickly hid it and snuck it into his pocket as she began to wake up. "w-what time is it?" madison groaned, stretching her arms out as she woke up.
"it's 10 am." miles answered. "how'd you sleep?" miles asked with a smile. "uh, good." madison lied. "oh, that's good." miles nodded. "uh, how about you?" madison asked. "uh, good." miles answered. "actually. i have to go. i promised haley and sydney that I'd help them with something." miles rushed giving her a quick kiss on the forehead.
"y-you just got here." madison said. "I-i know. it's just i-i promised I'd help your- i mean their grandma move her stuff. she's dying and stuff.." miles stuttered. "are you lying to me?" madison asked. "what?! no! of course not. i just promised I'd help them." miles said. "gotta go bye!" miles said quickly pecking her lips exiting out her window. "huh?" madison said in confusion to herself. miles however, made his way to haley's house knocking on her door aggressively.
"OPEN THE FUCKING DOOR!" miles exclaimed. "WHAT?!" haley exclaimed seeing miles waiting outside her door.
———
"this is what i found on her desk this morning." miles said as he placed the drawing on the table. "i-is that what i think it is?" haley asked scarcely. "yeah." miles huffed. "i-i mean, i guess she's been having nightmares again." miles thought. "these have to be recent. we've never seen the monster this big before." haley added. "unless, somehow she can see them in a way that we can't." miles suggested. "well yeah, the mind flayer always had a connection to her. but had a stronger connection to you." haley explained.
"and if this thing came back, it needed a host. someone who's easy to control." miles added. "and we got it out of you when madison was in your basement." haley said. "i-i know who the new host is." miles said in worry. "w-who is it?" haley asked. "f-flora." miles said in fear.
haley gasped in fear, before pacing back in forth. "a-are you sure it's her?" haley asked. "yes, she's been acting weird!" miles exclaimed. "she said he likes it cold. she doesn't eat that much anymore and sometimes forget who i am." miles explained. "you didn't act like that when you were flayed." haley thought. "yeah, I-i know. but that's not the point." miles spat. "what i'm saying is that the mind flayers back. we gotta do something." miles said scarcely.
meanwhile, alex and will made their way to madison's house. "maddie!! it's me!" alex knocked on her door. "so this girl is your mage?" will asked. "yep, she's so cool." alex smiled. madison quickly opened the door seeing the two boys in front of her door. "hi?" madison said as she looked at them. "can we come in?" alex smiled as madison moved to the side letting them in closing the door with her powers.
"so, you're the mage?" will asked in awe. "your what?" madison said in confusion. "the mage. you know, the all mighty super powerful badass." will smiled. "sure? i guess. whatever you think." madison shrugged. "i'm will." will smiled sticking out his hand for her to shake. "i'm madison. call me maddie, if you want." madison smiled shaking his hand. "so, you wanna be in our party?" will asked with a smile. "your what?" madison asked in confusion as they made their way upstairs. "our party. it's like a cool group." will said. "and how many people are in this party?" madison asked. "j-just me and alex. t-there would be more, but um we're recruiting." will smiled.
"yeah, i'll be in your party." madison smiled softly. "great." will smiled. madison and will entered her room seeing alex laying back on her bed looking at photos on her wall. "where's your jerky boyfriend?" alex asked. "don't know. said he had to help haley's grandma?" madison said, coming out as more as a question than an answer. "what? haley's grandma died like two years ago." alex said just as confused as she was.
"he lied to me." madison sighed. "well, miles would never lie to you if it was something bad." alex said trying to make her feel better. "plus, if he's with haley.. haley likes girls anyways." alex blurted out. "wait, what?!" madison exclaimed. "you know, i think she has a thing for sydney." alex thought. "how come she didn't tell me?" madison said in thought. "i mean you were bound to find out at some point." will said sitting beside her. "yeah, it's just that me and haley usually tell each other everything that's all." madison said.
