"Should I be worried that you made another friend?" My best friend Elise followed me around the kitchen while I got things ready for game night. I told my parents who were thrilled especially my dad that I invited Will over. I think he likes how much time I have been spending with Will and my mom is anxiously waiting to meet him since she hasn't been here any of the times that he has.
"Don't be ridiculous Eli!"
"I'm just saying I better not have to compete with this guy. Is he cute?" She asks curiously as she poured some pretzels into a bowl after she made some ranch dip. That's the best part about game night other than family time of course is the snacks and boy do we love our snacks at this house.
"There's no competition, you're my best friend. Umm yeah he's cute I guess." I nod as I finished cutting the last few pieces of fruit and sat them on a tray. We have some chocolate melted to dip the fruit into that way you have every asset for snacking from salty to sweet. He's more than just cute, cute is what you call a puppy or a little girl but Will? He is jaw dropping, model worthy, God took his time creating Will Foley.
"He is pretty great so I would say you have some competition Eli." My dad walked into the kitchen limping but still managing to get around. I hate seeing him not using his chair but the doctor said it's good to use his muscles as much as he can and honestly my dad thinks it makes him seem less sick walking.
"Hey old man I will kick you in the shin! You take it back right now!" Eli's eyes were dancing with humor, she knew my dad was only giving her a hard time. My parents love her like a second child and give her hell all the time especially my dad.
"Okay okay fine! But just wait you're going to love him!" My dad gushed making me roll my eyes. The door bell rang so I excused myself to answer the door.
"I'll be right back." Elise started carrying all the snacks to the kitchen table while I went to answer the door.
I opened the door to Will standing there with a Walmart bag full with God only knows what.
"I didn't want to come empty handed so I brought candy." I offered him a warm smile and stepped aside letting him in.
He followed me into the kitchen where my parents and Elise were sitting at the table waiting for us. When we walked in Elise's eyes bugged almost out of her skull. I watched as she shamelessly let her eyes trail up and down Will's body. Either he was unfazed by it or he didn't care because he just turned his attention towards my mom who was smiling brightly at him.
"Hi you must be Will, I am Beth, Cameron's mom." I watched as Will stuck his hand out for her to shake but my mom ignored it and rose to her feet and wrapped him in a bone crushing hug. No one else noticed him tense but I did.
"Honey I am a hugger!" My mom giggled before taking her seat again.
"Nice to meet you Beth, it's good to see you again Tim, how are you feeling?" Will rubbed my dads shoulder affectionately as he spoke to him.
"Oh I am great! Please come have a seat." My dad gestured towards the two empty chairs at the table. I took a seat across from Elise and Will sat in the chair next to me.
"Will this is my best friend Elise, Elise this is Will." I introduced them and curiously watched their encounter. Elise smiles warmly at him and he gave her a what's up head nod.
"Nice to meet you." Elise lifted her long perfectly tanned arm and leaned it across the table. Will lifted his hand and shook hers quickly before letting go of her hand and resting his arm on the back of my chair. Elise looked between us for a second weirdly but didn't say anything.
