It's been a few months since we ran from our town, Falcon Claw.
I haven't been keeping track though, because I'm trying to forget that part, leave the past behind me, wiping it off my shoulder like nothing.
Some off the werewolves didn't feel comfortable living in the village, probably because it was so out in the open, but a few of us grouped together to protect each other and live on the same street.
It's been a few months, as I said earlier, and most of us built the small houses we were living in.
I've been living on the same street as, what they call themselves as 'The Bun Trio', and it's been exhausting. If I don't reply to their knock in 30 seconds, my door comes down. And they knock, every, damn, hour.
I can't leave without telling them, because if I don't, my door will be on the floor!
Aaron finds this more funny, the more I complain to him. Sometimes when I open the door, my face fuming, I see Aaron looking out this window, smiling. That means hes been setting them up!
-
I woke up this morning from The Bun Trio's daily knock, hurrying to go open my door before I don't have to.
"I'm up!" I said frantically, not trying to get my third door replaced. Keep in mind I just woke up, looking like a raccoon.
"Alpha? Why do you look like that?" Dottie asked me, tilting her head to the side.
"I'm trying to sleep, Dottie, I went to bed late last night!" I said, and saw Aaron smiling through his window, winking at me.
I closed my door and walked into my bathroom, angrily taking my clothes off to shower.
As I stepped into the warm water, I took a deep breath and sighed, finally calming down. Stepping out the shower, I wrapped a towel around my body, and walked out, trying to find something to wear.
After getting ready, I stepped outside to go get the newspaper from my porch.
Picking it up, I saw a piece of mail on top of it, assigned to me. Shrugging, I picked it up, and walked inside.
I opened it, and saw a letter written with cut-out newspapers. I hesitated, looking around, suddenly feeling like I was being watched. I looked around one more time, seeing nothing, and read the letter.
-
FOR THE ULTIMA,
DONT THINK YOU GOT AWAY
WE ARE COMING
XOXO
-
I dropped the note on the floor, looking around me, no longer feeling like I was being watched, but still on edge.
Picking up the note, I ran outside my house, not looking back. And even though it was nearly 70 degrees Fahrenheit, my arms were covered with goosebumps, and the hair on my arms standing up.
I ran to Aaron's house, across from mine, pounding on the door.
He opened it quickly, and I blushed seeing that he didn't have a shirt on,
"Aph," he said surprised, "w-what are you doing here?" he said panting.
I didn't bother being flustered, still terrified at what I had received.
"A-Aph? What's wrong?" he said worriedly, as I ran into the house.
"Igotmailanditwasthreateningmeandimscaredwhatdoido!" I said frantically.
"Aphmau, slow down, what's going on?" he said, looking me in the eyes, grabbing my hands.
"We are in danger, Aaron, something is going on," I said slowly, listening to him.
I gave him the letter, and he read it. He took a deep breath, looked at me, and told me, "We have to tell everyone."
I nodded, and told him, "Now go put on a shirt after a shower,"
He snorted and walked into the bathroom.
-
I was sitting on the couch when the bathroom door opened, and Aaron walked out, his hair and his face wet. The water from his hair dripped off and onto his face, rolling down his jaw.
I blushed, my face going hot.
"Do you have any paper at your house? I was thinking we could send out letters." I said as he walked over to the couch across from the sofa I was sitting on.
He shook his head, "They're going to intercept it, especially if they know where you live now. They might even be watching us right now," he said, like it was nothing, looking around. I did the same shivering, rubbing my arms as it got colder in the room.
"So what do you propose?" I said, after a pause, trying to think.
"We can't keep running, Aphmau, they're just going to keep chasing us." he said, looking at- no, into me. I looked down at my knees, sighing, trying to become invisible, if that's even possible.
"I propose," he said, not taking his gaze off of me, taking a deep breath and sighing it out, "that we fight back."
I breathing stopped, I was the Ultima, that meant they are after me. That meant I can't hide behind Dottie's protective shoulder, or Aaron's back. This meant I couldn't keep being a coward.
This meant I had to embrace that side of me I hated
